ANALYSING THE USAGE OF E-BOOK AMONG STUDENTS IN UNIVERSITAS GADJAH MADA: A TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE MODEL (TAM) APPROACH

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis penggunaan aktual terhadap buku elektronik dengan menggunakan Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Kurangnya pemahaman dan sumber litearatur mengenai niat berperilaku dan penggunaan aktual terhadap buku elektronik di Universitas Gadjah Mada telah menimbulkan rasa keingintahuan peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian ini. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertempat di Universitas Gadjah Mada dengan menggunakan sampel dari mahasiswa vokasi, sarajana, magister, dan doktor. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti memperhatikan persepsi kesenangan, persepsi kemudahan, persepsi kegunaan, dan niat berperilaku untuk menjelaskan pengguaan aktual buku elektronik di kalangan mahasiswa. Peneliti menemukan bahwa mahasiwa doktor memiliki persepsi penggunaan aktual tertinggi sedangkan mahasiswa vokasi memiliki persepi pengunaan aktual terendah. Mahasiswa sarjana memiliki persepsi paling rendah dalam hal kesenangan dalam menggunakan buku elektronik sedangkan mahasiwa magister menempati urutan kedua setelah mahasiwa doktor dalam persepsi pengguaan aktual terhadap buku elektronik. Meskipun demikian, persepsi kesenangan terhadap buku elektronik memiliki penilaian terendah dari semua variabel model.

The purpose of this research is to analyse Universitas Gadjah Mada students' actual usage towards e-book by using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The lack of understanding and literature resources of students' behavioral intention and actual usage towards e-book in Universitas Gadjah Mada has risen the researcher interest to conduct the research. Thus the research took place in Universitas Gadjah Mada using samples from vocational degree, undergraduate degree, master degree, and doctorate degree students. The research take a look at students' perceived enjoyment, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and behavioral intention to explain students' actual usage of e-book. The researcher gather the data using quantitative research method and questionnaire. Through that, the researcher found that doctorate degree students are the one who perceived the most of e-book actual usage while vocational has the least perceived actual usage on using e-book. Undergraduate students perceived the least on enjoyment of using e-book and master students placed second after doctorate students on e-book perceived actual usage. However perceived enjoyment scores the lowest among all variables.
