PERSEPSI MAHASISWA FAKULTAS PETERNAKAN UNIVERSITAS GADJAH MADA ANGKATAN TAHUN 2012 TERHADAP PROFESI PETERNAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profesi yang dipilih oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Gadjah Mada apabila lulus studi sarjana, dan mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Gadjah Mada terhadap profesi peternak. Desain metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah metode survey, dengan teknik wawancara menggunakan kuesioner yang telah teruji validitas dan reabilitasnya. Metode penentuan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive random sampling yaitu metode penetapan sampel dengan memilih beberapa sampel tertentu yang dinilai sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian dalam sebuah populasi. Sampel yang digunakan meliputi 30 mahasiswa angkatan tahun 2012 Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Gadjah Mada. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan menggunakan beberapa pernyataan dan kemudian ditentukan skor-skor alternative jawaban pernyataan dengan metode skala Likert menggunakan bantuan program SPSS versi 22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pilihan profesi mahasiswa Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Gadjah Mada tahun angkatan 2012 didominasi oleh profesi pengusaha (37%), dan (2) Persepsi mahasiswa terhadap profesi peternak yang diperoleh dari aspek sosial tergolong dalam kategori sedang, sedangkan dari aspek lingkungan fisik dan aspek ekonomi tergolong dalam kategori tinggi. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Pilihan profesi mahasiswa Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Gadjah Mada angkatan tahun 2012 lebih banyak memilih profesi sebagai pengusaha yang bergerak di bidang off farm, sedangkan untuk pemilihan profesi peternak masih kurang diminati, (2) Persepsi mahasiswa terhadap profesi peternak yang ditinjau dari aspek sosial digolongkan dalam kategori sedang, sedangkan persepsi yang ditinjau dari aspek lingkungan fisik dan ekonomi tergolong tinggi.

This study aimed to find out the professions chosen by students of the Faculty of Animal Science of Gadjah Mada University after graduating from the undergraduate studies, and to find out the Faculty of Animal Science of Gadjah Mada University students’ perceptions towards the profession of animal breeders is. The design method conducted in the study was the survey method by the interview technique using questionnaires which had been approved on their validity and reliability. The method used to decide the sample was the purposive random sampling in which selected by member of the population. The sample used were 30 students from the class of 2012 of the Faculty of Animal Science of Gadjah Mada University. The data analysis used in this study was used some statements and then determined to statements alternative value with the method of Likert scale supported by the program of SPSS version 22. The results of this study showed that: (1) the choices of professions by the students from the class of 2012 of the Faculty of Animal Science of Gadjah Mada University were dominated by the entrepreneurship profession (37%), and (2) the students' perceptions towards the profession of animal breeders which were obtained from the aspects of social were considered to be in intermediate level, while from the aspects of physical environment, and the economy were considered to be in high level. The conclusion of the study showed that (1) regarding to the choices of professions, the students from the class of 2012 of the Faculty of Animal Science of Gadjah Mada University mostly chose the entrepreneurship profession who working in the outside farming, while the profession of animal breeders was less desirable, and (2) the students’ perceptions towards the profession of animal breeders which were obtained from the aspects of social were considered as intermediate, while were obtained from the aspect of physical environment and the economy were considered as high.
