The Violation of Conversational Maxims and Its Implicature in the Movie of Tomorrowland

Penelitian ini fokus dalam mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis pelanggaran maksim percakapan yang dilanggar oleh karakter-karakter dalam film Tomorrowland. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menganalisis implikatur dari setiap pelanggaran maksim percakapan dalam film Tomorrowland. Jenis pelanggaran maksim percakapan dianalisis berdasarkan Prinsip Kerjasama yang dibuat oleh Paul H. Grice. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan subtitle film sebagai bantuan tambahan untuk menganalisis pelanggaran maksim percakapan. Jenis-jenis pelanggaran maksim percakapan yang dilanggar dalam film Tomorrowland adalah maksim kuantitas, maksim kualitas, maksim relevansi, dan maksim cara. Terdapat 21 kasus pelanggaran maksim percakapan; maksim percakapan yang paling banyak dilanggar adalah maksim kuantitas dengan presentase 38.10% dan di tempat kedua adalah maksim relasi sebanyak 33.34%. Kemudian diikuti dengan maksim kualitas dan maksim cara sebanyak 14.28% di tempat terakhir. Selain itu, setiap pelanggaran maksim percakapan mempunyai implikatur yang berbeda yang dilatarbelakangi oleh alasan mengapa karakter dalam film melanggar maksim percakapan.

This research focuses in identifying the types of conversational maxim which are violated by the characters in the movie of Tomorrowland. Besides, this research also aims to analyze the implicature of each violation of conversational maxims in the movie of Tomorrowland. The type of violation of conversational maxim is analyzed based on Cooperative Principle proposed by Grice. This research uses descriptive research method with the subtitle of the movie as an additional help to analyze the violation of conversational maxim. Types of conversational maxim violated in the movie of Tomorrowland are maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of relation, and maxim of manner. There are 21 cases of conversational maxim violation; the most violated conversational maxim is maxim of quantity with 38.10% and the second place is maxim of relation with 33.34%. Then it is followed by maxim of quality and maxim of manner with 14.28% in the last place. Moreover, each violation of conversational maxim has various implicature which is supported by the reason of why the characters violate maxim of conversational maxim.
