Kawasan titik nol kilometer Yogyakarta terletak di di ujung selatan jalan Malioboro. Kawasan titik nol kilometer ini merupakan sebuah ruang publik yang tidak pernah sepi pengunjung. Sehingga bisa dikatakan kawasan ini memiliki sense of place yang kuat. Rencana pemerintah dalam pengembangan kawasan Malioboro yang didalamnya termasuk kawasan titik nol kilometer dikhawatirkan akan berdampak pada sense of place kawasan, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sense of place kawasan titik nol kilometer Yogyakarta dan elemen-elemen fisik kawasan yang terkait dengan terbentuknya sense of place tersebut sehingga dapat dirumuskan sebuah arahan desain yang tepat, guna mempertahankan atau menguatkan sense of place pada kawasan titik nol kilometer Yogyakarta jika kawasan tersebut akan dikembangkan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu mendeskripsikan gambaran terhadap suatu objek penelitian yang diteliti melalui sampel atau data yang telah terkumpul dan kemudian dari data yang terukur diolah dalam bentuk angka-angka yang dirumuskan dalam tabel dan grafik persentase dari hasil olahan data statistik. Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan adalah pertama, sense of place yang dirasakan oleh pengunjung lebih menitikberatkan pada aspek place identity (%), yaitu hubungan manusia dengan bentuk dan place atttachment (%), yaitu hubungan manusia dengan makna, sedangkan aspek place dependace (%), yaitu hubungan antara manusia dengan fungsi agak kurang dirasakan oleh responden. Sense of place yang dirasakan pada kawasan titik nol yaitu kesan bersejarah, khas, menarik, terkenal, santai dan ramai. Kedua, Sense of place yang dirasakan pengunjung memiliki keterkaitan kuat dengan elemen fix dan elemen non-fix, sedangkan elemen semi-fix kurang memiliki keterkaitan dengan sense of place kawasan. Elemen-elemen yang memiliki keterkaitan kuat dengan sense of place kawasan titik nol kilometer adalah Benteng Vredeburg, Monumen 1 maret, Andong, orang nongkrong, street performance, aktivitas sosial dan pengarah jalan.

Kilometer zero area of Yogyakarta lies at the southern end of the Malioboro street. Kilometer zero area is a public space that is never empty. That is to say the area has a strong sense of place. The government development plan of the Malioboro area which includes the zero kilometer area is feared to affect the sense of place of the area, this research aims to determine the sense of place of the kilometer zero area of Yogyakarta and the physical elements which associated with the sense of place so that we can formulate design guidelines that are accurate, in order to maintain or increase the sense of place at the kilometer zero area of Yogyakarta if the area will be developed. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, that describe the picture of an object of research study through samples or data that has been collected and then from the measured data is processed in the form of numbers that are formulated in tables and graphs the percentage of the processed statistical data , Research results obtained are first, sense of place that is perceived by visitors to focus more on the aspects of place identity (49,4), the human relationship with the form and place atttachment (35,125), the human relationship with meaning, while aspects of the place dependace (24,2), the relationship between man and functions somewhat less perceived by the respondents. Sense of place is felt in the area of the zero point that is the impression of the historic, distinctive, attractive, famous, relaxed and crowded. Second, the perceived Sense of place visitors have strong linkages with fixed elements and non-fixed elements, while the semi-fix elements lacking linkages with the zero point area sense of place. Elements that have strong linkages with the sense of place of the zero kilometer point is Fort Vredeburg, 1 March Monument, Carriage, people hanging out, street performance, social activities and the sign.
