MANAJEMEN PERKAWINAN KUDA DAN PEMELIHARAAN BELO DI ECLIPSE STABLE BOYOLALI

Kuda merupakan salah satu ternak yang penting secara ekonomis. Pemanfaatannya tidak hanya sebatas pengangkut ataupun penarik. Kuda mulai diminati dalam beberapa bidang olahraga bergengsi, karena itu kuda memerlukan manajemen yang baik. Tujuan penulisan tugas akhir ini adalah untuk mengetahui manajemen perkawinan kuda dan pemeliharaan belo di Eclipse stable Boyolali. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara dokter hewan dan anak kandang, pengambilan gambar serta praktek langsung pada tanggal 22 Februari 2016 sampai 27 Februari 2016. Pubertas kuda usia rata – rata 18 bulan. Siklus etrus selama 21 hari dengan deteksi estrus metode teasing yaitu dengan didekatkan kuda pejantan dan kuda betina. Perkawinan kuda dilakukan saat musim kawin bulan September sampai pertengahan Maret pada kuda betina estrus dengan kuda pejantan asli Thoroughbred. Belo di Eclipse stable adalah calon kuda pacu yang pemeliharaannya sangat diperhatikan mulai dari aspek pakan, perawatan dan kesehatan dari partus sampai usia siap pacu. Perawatan setelah partus dengan membersihkan lendir dan pengamatan waktu menyusu dan beridiri. Pemberian obat cacing pada usia tiga bulan dan pemberian vaksin tetanus toxoid pada usia empat bulan. Penyapihan dilakukan pada usia enam bulan. Manajemen perkawinan kuda di Eclipse stable belum sesuai prosedur didalam literatur dan untuk pemeliharaan belo di Eclipse stable sudah sesuai prosedur didalam literatur.

Horses are one of the economically important livestock, not only use as work horse or horse carriage. Horse began to enthused in some pertigious sports, therefore it requires a good horses management. The purpose of this final project is to find out the management of mating horses and rearing foal in Eclipse stable Boyolali. Data were collected by interviewing veterinary doctors and horse keepers, taking picture and practice on date February 22, 2016 until February 27, 2016. The average age of horses puberty is 18 month. Estrus cycle as long as 21 days, to detect estrus period we can use teasing method by bringing the stud to the mare. Mating horses were performed during breeding season from September until mid- March, when the mare having estrus at that time the mare mating with stud who have pure thoroughbred blood. Foal in Eclipse stable is a potential racehorse, the foal management be kept from the aspect of feed nutrition, care and health, from birth until the age for racing horses. Treatment after parturition is clearing mucus after that we observe of milking time and wake up foal. Injection of anthelmintic at the age of three months and tetanus toxoid vaccine at the age of four moths. Foal weaned at the age of six moths. Management horses mating in Eclipse stable was not appropriate on procedures in the literature and for the rearing foal management in Eclipse stable was based on procedures in the literature.
