THE INFLUENCE OF PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT, CLASSIFIED BY PARENT’S DEMOGRAPHIC FACTORS, AND CURRENT EDUCATION POLICY ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IN HIGH SCHOOL IN NONG CHOK DISTRICT, BANGKOK, THAILAND

2016 | Tesis | S2 Administrasi PublikTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari pengaruh keterlibatan orang tua pada prestasi siswa di sekolah menengah atas Kabupaten Nong Chok, Bangkok, Thailand. Untuk membandingkan tingkat keterlibatan orang tua pada prestasi siswa diklasifikasikan berdasarkan faktor demografi, dan untuk menganalisa pengaruh keterlibatan orang tua dan kebijakan pendidikan pada prestasi siswa. Populasi dalam riset ini para orang tua anak-anak yang sedang belajar di sekolah menengah atas negeri di Kabupaten Nong Chok, Bangkok, Thailand. Proses pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode pengambilan sampel non-random. Ukuran sampling yang dihitung adalah 210 sampel. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang terstruktur dengan tingkat reliability 0.88. Statistik yang digunakan dalam riset ini adalah statistik deskriptif (persentase, mean, dan deviasi standar), analisis varian satu factor (one-way ANOVA), dan regresi linear berganda (multiple linear regression). Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa 60.5% responden adalah ibu, menikah (79.5%), memiliki ijazah sekolah menengah atas atau setara (51,4%), bekerja sebagai karyawan (43.8%), pendapatan di bawah atau setara dengan 150.000 Baht per tahun (44.3%), dan bekerja kurang dari atau sama dengan 8 jam per hari (71,9%). Pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa orang tua banyak terlibat dalam pendidikan siswa. Jenis orang tua mempunyai pengaruh signifikan secara statistik pada prestasi siswa di tingkat 0,01. Hasil dari regresi linear berganda ditemukan bahwa kebijakan pendidikan sangat signifikan mempengaruhi prestasi siswa di tingkat 0,01, sementara secara statistic keterlibatan orang tua tidak mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan pada prestasi siswa secara. Lebih-lebih lagi, persamaan diperkirakan dapat memprediksi prestasi siswa di 28,4%.
The purpose of this research is to study the influence of parental involvement on student achievement in high school in Nong Chok District, Bangkok, Thailand, to compare level of parental involvement on student achievement classified by demographic factors, and to analyze the influence of parental involvement and education policy on student achievement. The population in this study are parents whom their children are currently studying in public high school in Nong Chok district, Bangkok, Thailand. The sampling process was determined by using non-random sampling method. The calculated sampling size was 210 samples. Data were collected through the structured questionnaire which reliability was 0.88. The statistic used in the research were the descriptive statistics (percentage, mean, and Standard Deviation), One-way ANOVA, and Multiple Linear Regression. The result indicated that 60.5 percent of respondents were mothers, married (79.5 percent), had received high school or equivalent (51.4 percent), work as an employee (43.8 percent), earn below or equal to 150,000 Baht per year (44.3 percent), and work less than or equal to 8 hours per day (71.9 percent). The hypotheses testing showed that parents often involve in student education. Type of parents had a statistically significant influence on student achievement at 0.05 level. The results of multiple linear regression analysis found that education policy had significantly affected student achievement at 0.01 level, while parental involvement had no statistically significant relationship with student achievement. Moreover, the estimated equation can predict the student achievement at 28.4%.
