PERBANDINGAN TEKNIK BEGG DAN STRAIGHT WIRE PADA PERAWATAN MALOKLUSI DENGAN PENCABUTAN DAN TANPA PENCABUTAN TERHADAP LAMA PERAWATAN ORTODONTIK (Kajian Studi Model Pada Maloklusi Angle Klas I Ringan Menurut ICON)

Lama perawatan ortodontik dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, diantaranya perbedaan teknik perawatan ortodontik yang digunakan dan metode perawatan apakah membutuhkan pencabutan atau tidak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan lama perawatan ortodontik pada maloklusi ringan menurut ICON menggunakan teknik Begg dan Straight Wire dengan pencabutan 4 gigi premolar pertama dan tanpa pencabutan. Penelitian dilakukan pada model gigi sebelum dan sesudah perawatan ortodontik kasus maloklusi ringan menurut ICON pada 4 kelompok sampel, yaitu 16 sampel pasien dirawat menggunakan teknik Begg dengan pencabutan, 14 sampel pasien dirawat menggunakan teknik Begg tanpa pencabutan, 14 sampel pasien dirawat menggunakan teknik Straight Wire dengan pencabutan dan 21 sampel pasien dirawat menggunakan teknik Straight Wire tanpa pencabutan. Lama perawatan ortodontik dihitung dari mulai pemasangan braket sampai dengan pelepasan braket pada saat perawatan dinyatakan selesai, dalam satuan minggu. Analisis statistik dilakukan pada rerata lama perawatan masing-masing kelompok sampel menggunakan Analisis Variansi dua jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perawatan ortodontik menggunakan teknik Begg membutuhkan waktu lebih lama dibandingkan teknik Straight Wire dan secara statisik bermakna (p<0,05). Perawatan ortodontik dengan pencabutan 4 gigi premolar pertama membutuhkan waktu perawatan lebih lama dibandingkan tanpa pencabutan, dan secara statistik bermakna (p<0.05). Tidak terdapat interaksi antara pengaruh teknik perawatan ortodontik yang digunakan yaitu teknik Begg dan teknik Straight Wire dengan metode perawatan yang digunakan yaitu dengan pencabutan dan tanpa pencabutan terhadap lama perawatan ortodontik (p>0.05)

Orthodontic treatment time was influenced by many factors like the choise of orthodontic treatment technique and the extraction or nonextraction orthodontic treatment method. The aim of this study is to know the difference of orthodontic treatment time in mild malocclusion graded by ICON treated using Begg technique and Straight Wire technique with extraction and nonextraction treatment method. Study was done on 65 pairs of before and after orthodontic treatment models of patient with mild malocclusion graded by ICON , devided in 4 sample of groups. The groups are: group of 16 samples treated using Begg technique with extraction, group of 14 samples treated using Begg technique without extraction, group of 14 samples treated using Straight Wire technique with extraction and group of 21 samples treated using Straight Wire technique without extraction. Treatment time was counted since bracket insertion until bracket removal when the treatment has been finished. The mean of treatment time in each group were analysed statistically using Two Way Anova. The result showed that the Begg orthodontic treatment technique significantly need longer treatment time than the Straight Wire orthodontic treatment technique (p<0.05). Extraction orthodontic treatment method significantly need longer treatment time than nonextraction orthodontic treatment method (p<0.05). There was not found interaction between orthodontic treatment technique both Begg and Straight Wire and orthodontic treatment method both extraction and nonextraction against orthodontic treatment time (p>0.05).
