GAMBARAN GEJALA FISIK ESTRUS DAN KADAR HORMON PROGESTERONE PADA SAPI

Deteksi estrus merupakan pengetahuan yang penting untuk meningkatkan performa reproduksi sapi. Deteksi estrus dapat dilakukan dengan melihat gejala fisik estrus, meskipun sapi tidak selalu menunjukkan gejala fisik yang jelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar progesterone saat estrus serta gambaran gejala fisik estrus dan kadar progesterone. Penelitian ini menggunakan delapan ekor sapi potong betina yang terdiri dari lima ekor sapi Peranakan Ongole (PO) dan tiga ekor sapi SimPO. Sapi disinkronisasi dengan Protaglandin (PGF2alfa), kemudian dilakukan pengamatan gejala fisik estrus dan pengukuran kadar progesterone dengan metode ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay). Pada penelitian diketahui empat dari delapan sapi penelitian menunjukan gejala fisik estrus yang jelas dengan rata-rata kadar progesterone sapi saat estrus adalah 0,27 standar deviasi 0,05 ng/mL. Kadar progesterone yang rendah pada penelitian ini cenderung diikuti dengan gejala fisik estrus yang jelas.

Estrus detection is an important knowledge to improve reproductive performance of cows. Estrous can be detected by watching the clinical signs of estrous, although cows not always show oblivious clinical signs. The research aims to determine progesterone levels at the moment of estrous, and description of the clinical sign of estrous and progesterone levels. This research used eight female beef cattle that consist of five Peranakan Ongole (PO) cows and three SimPO cows. Cows were synchronized with Prostaglandin (PGF2alfa), then observation the clinical signs of estrous and measurement of progesterone levels by ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method. The result of the research shows that four of eight cows shows obvious clinical sign with the average of progesterone levels at the moment of estrous is 0.27 deviation standard 0.05 ng/mL. Low progesterone levels in this research tend to be followed by obvious clinical sign of estrous.
