INTISARI Pemakaian pupuk organik pada tanaman semakin meningkat. Hal ini dikarenakan bahan baku murah, ramah lingkungan, dan kualitasnya mampu bersaing dengan pupuk pabrik. Pada proses pembuatan pupuk organik, salah satu proses adalah bahan-bahan dipotong kecil-kecil yaitu proses melembutkan dan mencampur bahan-bahan tersebut. Jenis mesin pencacah daun organik yang didesain adalah tipe vertikal dimana daun diputar searah jarum jam. Mesin ini mampu menghasilkan cacahan daun yang telah dicacah dengan kapasitas 10 kg/menit. Dalam menentukan ukuran dari tiap komponen yang dibutuhkan perhitungan ini meliputi pemilihan motor listrik, diameter poros, bahan poros, ukuran puli yang digunakan, panjang sabuk, jenis sabuk, perhitungan umur bantalan, perhitungan kekuatan sambungan las. Setelah melakukan perancangan maka dapat diketahui bahwa mesin ini membutuhkan motor listrik berdaya 0,87 hp, poros yang digunakan yaitu dengan diameter 9,537 mm dengan bahan yang digunakan ST 37 sehingga belt yang seharusnya digunakan A 37, umur nominal bantalan 14,7079307 tahun, hasil sambungan kekuatan las yaitu 1187.76 kg.

ABSTRACT The wed of organic fertilizer for crop has in crease in last years. This condition cawes by the main substance is achievable, sustainable for the environment and the quality is compatible with chemical fertilizer. in the processing of made the organic fertilizer. There is a step that the producer should chopping and mixing the substance. The kind of leave chopping machine that be designed has a vertikal type which is the leave thad used will turning as the watch hand direction. This machine can produces chopped leave till 10 kgs/minutes. To determine the size of each component that will be used, the user should counts the engine, the diameter�s axis, axis substance, pulley�s size that used, belt length, the kind of the belt used, the calculation of the calculation of the bearing and the calculation of the weld connection�s vigour. After passed the body planning, can be conclude that this machine need electrical engine that have capacity 0,42 hp, with axis�s diameter 9,537 mm that made by ST 37 so the belt used is A39, the bearing�s life span 14, 7079307 years, with the weld connection viguor 1187,76 kgs.
