PT Bakrie Pipe Industries (BPI) adalah perusahaan manufaktur pipa baja Saat ini BPI seringkali tidak dapat memenuh permintaan pelanggan tepat waktu Hal ini disebabkan karena kebijakan perusahaan yang cenderung membeli material bahan baku dan melakukan produksi setelah mendapat pesanan dari pelanggan (make to order) dengan safety stock yang tidak diperitungkan dengan baik padahal seringkali lead time bahan baku dari pemasok tidak konsisten Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan kebijakan persediaan yang optimal untuk mendukung ketersediaan produk dengan memperhatikan biaya – biaya yang terkait. Pada penelitian ini diketahui bahwa manajemen persediaan PT BPI masih belum optimal terlihat dari masih adanya ketidaktersediaan stock dan kelebihan stock pada beberapa produk. Untuk menjadikan manajemen persediaan menjadi optimal maka BPI sebaiknya melakukan peramalan dengan baik dan menerapkan EOQ pada setiap pembelian. Apabila dibandingkan dengan metode EOQ biaya persediaan yang dikeluarkan perusahaan menjadi lebih kecil. Penerapan safety stock, re order point dan EOQ dapat memeuhi permintaan pelanggan tepat waktu degann service level 90 % yang diharapkan.

PT Bakrie Pipe Industries (BPI) is steel pipe manufacturing company. Now days BPI often can not fulfill the customer order on time due to lack of stock. These condition happened because the company apply the make to order policy, means that the raw materials to make the pipes are bought from supplier when the company get the order in hand from the customer. Safety stock is not determined properly although the lead time of the raw materials often inconsistent. The main objective of the research is to optimize BPI inventory management policy to support the availability of the stock with considering all the related cost. The data analysis shows that current inventory management in BPI still not so optimal. Some pipes are over stock and the other hand some pipes are under stock. Total inventory cost still high. In order to optimize the inventory management, BPI should apply forecasting and EOQ method. Replenishment by using EOQ reduce the total inventory cost. Application of safety stock and reorder point as part of inventory management able to fulfill the service level 90 %.
