2016 | Tesis | S2 Kajian Budaya dan MediaThe experience of libraries networking has been for so long aimed at access of information services and resource haring among libraries. Libraries as the source of knowledge flow and information services, the networking is based on inter-library loan and disseminating of ready publication, documents and formation of online public access catalogue (union catalogue) which can be accessed by every library in networking. Formulation of networks for easy access of information and resource sharing turns out to be limited by some factors among libraries. Library networking for easy access to information services and resource sharing is mainly hindered by communication, commitment and socialization among the libraries with a common interest. Like many other libraries, both Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Atma Jaya, Yogyakarta libraries also joined library network operating in the region called Jogya Library for All where all academic, special and public libraries in special region of Yogyakarta come together and share resources. For the researcher to assess the level of information services access and resource sharing status among libraries in Jogya Library for All network, Yogyakarta, a mixed method of data collection (qualitative and quantitative) was conducted. According to the results it is found that information service and resources sharing, both Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Atma Jaya libraries most of their efforts are put into sharing OPAC and reading rooms to Jogya Library for All network only. Most of libraries are inactive to participate in information services, resource sharing and networking. However Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta libraries surveyed subscribe to on-line journals and they already initiated library automation programme amongst the libraries. This study delineates the ways of how information services and resources are accessed and shared from Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Atma Jaya Libraries to Jogya Library for all network, with the conclusion that resource sharing among libraries is effective for the development of libraries and can promote the effective library cooperation for access to world-wide information and global resource sharing. This study also recommends that the Governor of the Special Region Yogyakarta should take up any development project to provide training of all librarians in Jogya Library for All network to create socialization plat forms at global standard.
