Benchmarking internal supply chain performance of PT. Semen Gresik Tbk

Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan kinerja rantai pasokan PT Semen Gresik dari tahun 1996-2000 dan juga perbandigan rata-rata kinerja PT. Semen Gresik dengan PT. Semen Gresik Group yang dalam ha1 ini mewakili industri semen. Alat ukur yang digunakan untuk mengukur kinerja rantai pasokan adalah alat oportunitas dan alat diagnosa. Analisa oportunitas digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi jalan perbaikan di dalam internal rantai pasokan sedangkan analisa diagnosa difokuskan pada bagian dari rantai pasokan yang perlu diperhatikan. Dari analisa oportunitas dapat diketahui lama waktu pada setiap tingkatan proses di material mentah, produk setengah jadi dan produk jadi. Lama waktu ini akan semakin singkat apabila terjadi kenaikan permintaan, persaingan, teknologi informasi & komunikasi, dan regulasi (David Bovet dan Yossi Shes 1999). Analisa diagnosa adalah untuk menentukan tingkat keefesiensian biaya dan produktivitas modal kerj a yang digunakan dalam rantai pasokan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peneliti mengambil kesimpulan bahwa total waktu terpendek dari rangkaian proses material mentah, produk setengah jadi,dan produk jadi terjadi di tahun1996 (32 hari) dan terpanjang di tahun 1998 (234 hari). Rasio ketidakefisienan dari rantai pasokan semakin meningkat dari tahun 1996 ke 2000, kecuali tahun 1999 dimana terdapat rasio yang terkecil. Produktivitas modal kerja mengalami penurunan 50% dari 7,3 (1996) menjadi 3,48 (2000). PT. Semen Gresik menunjukkan hasil yang positif pada perbandingan ratarata rangkain proses produksi dari material mentah, produk setengah jadi, dan jadi dimana waktu yang dibutuhkan 93 hari sedangkan 120 hari pada industri. Pada rata-rata rasio ketidakefisienan biaya tidak terjadi perbedaan yang signifikan yaitu berkisar pada rasio 0,09. Sedangkan pada rata-rata produktivitas modal kerja PT. Semen Gresik (4,OO) lebih rendah dari pada industri (5,97).

The main objective of ~s research is to investigate internal supply chain performances of PT. Semen Gresik from 1996-2000 and comparison of an average performance to PT. Semen Gresik Group as representative of Indonesian cement industry. Tool to be used for the measurements are opportunity tool and diagnose tool. Opportunity analysis tool allows the firm to identitjr avenues for improvement in its internal supply chain processes and diagnosis tool helps firm to focus on specific areas of the internal supply chain that require attention. The opportunity analysis tool is used to ascertain how efficiently firm is managing the internal supply chain processes. The objective is to identify the length (in days) of various stages in the internal supply chain and draw a profile of the proportional cost addition during these stages. The length shortens if there is an increasing of demand, competition, globalization, information technology & communication, and regulation (David Bovet and Yossi Sheffi 1999). Diagnostic tool is to gauge internal supply chain management efficiency and working capital productivity. Based on the result of the research, the researcher concludes that the shortest time of the length periods of raw materid, WIP, and finished goods was in 1996 (32 days) and the longest was in 1998 (234 days). There was an increasing of internal supply chain inefficiency from 1996 to 2000, except in 1999, it was the smallest ratio. Working capital productivity decreased drastically (50%) from 7.3 (I 996) to be 3.48 (2000). PT. Semen Gresik shows a positive result of comparison the average of holding periods of raw material, WIP, and finished goods, where it has 93 days compared 120 days in the cement industry. There is no significant difference of the average of supply chain inefficiency, around 0.09. While, PT. Semen Gresik (4.00) has a lower than the industry’s result (5.97) in the average of working capital productivity
