HUBUNGAN ANTARA GEJALA FISIK ESTRUS SAPI PERANAKAN ONGOLE (PO) BETINA DENGAN KADAR HORMON PROGESTERON

Deteksi estrus dapat dilakukan dengan melihat gejala fisik estrus, namun sapi estrus tidak selalu menampilkan gejala fisik secara nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatahui gejala fisik estrus, kadar progesteron dan hubungan antar gejala fisik estrus dan kadar progesteron, sehingga analisa hormon progesteron saat estrus dapat menjadi gambaran yang mendukung status reproduksi sapi. Penelitian menggunakan lima ekor sapi betina Peranakan Ongole (PO) estrus yang dipelihara di Dusun Kuwang, Kecamatan Cangkringan, Kabupaten Sleman. Dilakukan penilaian terhadap gejala fisik estrus dan pengukuran kadar progesteron menggunakan metode ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gejala fisik estrus ditandai dengan gelisah, leleran vagina, mukosa vulva memerah dan basah. Dua dari lima sapi penelitian menunjukan gejala fisik estrus dengan jelas. Secara hormonal, rata-rata kadar progesteron estrus kelima sapi adalah 1,03 ± 0,45 ng/ml. Ada kecenderungan kadar progesteron saat estrus yang rendah diikuti gejala fisik yang jelas.

Estrous can be detected by watching the clinical signs of estrous, unfortunately cattle estrous not always shows their clinical sign of estrous obviously. The aim of this research was to know clinical sign of estrous, level of progesterone and the correlation between clinical sign of estrous with level of progesterone, so the analyzation of progesterone hormone at the moment of estrous can be used as representation that support the cattle reproduction status. This research used five female Ongole Crossbred cattle estrous in sub district of Kuwang, district of Cangkringan, sub province of Sleman. Assessments were done in clinical sign of estrous and measurement of progesterone level by ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method. The result of this research shows that the clinical sign of estrous are restless, vaginal mucous, swollen vulva, vulva mucosal becomes hyperemic and moist. Two of five cattle shows obvious clinical sign. Hormonally, the average of progesterone level at the moment of estrous is 1.03 ± 0.45 ng/ml. There was a tendency that low level of progesterone will be followed by obvious clinical sign of estrous.
