Langkah-langkah pemerintah Laos dalam menyusun strategi pengembangan pariwisata nasional dari tahun ke tahun menunjukkan hasil. Sustainable development dalam pariwisata yang diusung oleh Laos membuat negara ini mendapatkan perhatian European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT). Sustainable development merupakan salah satu dari inti prinsip-prinsip normatif Uni Eropa. Pada tahun 2013 Laos mendapatkan penghargaan dari ECCT sebagai World's Best Tourist Destination. Dalam mengembangkan pariwisatanya, Lao National Tourism Administration (LNTA) menggunakan konsep Strategi Pengembangan Pariwisata (Tourism Development Strategies) dan menciptakan master plan yang disebut National Tourism Strategy and Action Plan (NTSAP). Laos turut berperan aktif dalam Sustainable Tourism Development Project (STDP) yang diprakarsai oleh negara-negara yang tergabung dalam Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).

Lao�s government steps in arrange a national tourism development strategy over the years has shown results. Sustainable development in tourism promoted by Lao makes this country got the attention of the European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT). Sustainable development is one of the core of normative principles of European Union. In 2013, Lao was awarded by ECCT as World's Best Tourist Destination. In developing tourism, Lao National Tourism Administration (LNTA) uses the concept of Tourism Development Strategy and creates a master plan called the National Tourism Strategy and Action Plan (NTSAP). Lao take an active role in Sustainable Tourism Development Project (STDP) initiated by the countries which are members of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).
