The Active Learning Methods in Elementary School a Case Study in SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap

Pembelajaran Aktif merupakan suatu proses pembelajaran yang melibatkan para siswa untuk melakukan kegiatan di kelas dan para siswa harus aktif untuk menciptakan inovasi-inovasi mereka selama proses pembelajaran. Mengingat pentingnya belajar Bahasa Inggris di era globalisasi ini, maka dari itulah orang tua memiliki peranan penting untuk mendapatkan materi Bahasa Inggris yang baik bagi anak-anak mereka. Misalnya dengan mendaftarkan anak-anak mereka ke sekolah negeri atau sekolah swasta yang bermutu. Mengingat para siswa di SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap memiliki minat yang cukup tinggi dalam mempelajari Bahasa Inggris, maka penulis melakukan observasi di SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukan beberapa faktor yang memengaruhi prestasi Bahasa Inggris bagi para siswa SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap. Metode pengumpulan data yang dipergunakan adalah observasi yang melibatkan para siswa kelas 5 SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap yang berjumlah 35 siswa. Kemudian, penulis juga melakukan wawancara dengan guru Bahasa Inggris SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap, melakukan dokumentasi kegiatan selama proses pembelajaran di kelas dan mengadakan kuesioner bagi siswa kelas 5 SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa metode pembelajaran aktif mampu memberikan metode pembelajaran yang efektif terhadap siswa, khususnya dalam mempelajari Bahasa Inggris. Dapat dilihat dari hasil belajar para siswa, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran aktif dapat memberikan kemajuan terhadap nilai siswa, khususnya untuk pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Penulis menunjukkan adanya perubahan nilai ulangan tengah semester II dan nilai ulangan akhir semester II. Hasil akhir menunjukkan bahwa sebelum pemebelajaran aktif diterapkan, terdapat 3 siswa yang mendapatkan nilai <50 untuk nilai ulangan tengah semester II. Sementara itu, untuk ulangan akhir semester II dimana pembelajaran aktif telah diterapkan, hasilnya adalah tidak ada siswa yang mendapatkan nilai <50. Dari pernyataan tersebut dapat di simpulkan bahwa para siswa lebih menyukai metode pembelajaran aktif.

Active learning is a method in learning process that involves the students to undertake work in the classes and the students must be active to create many innovations during the learning process. As the importance of learning English in this era of globalization, the parents take an important role to get the good matter of English for their children. For example, it can be done by enrolling their children to public or private schools which have good quality. Since the students in SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap have good interest in English learning, the writer then conducted observation in SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap. This research attempted to show several affecting factors in achievement of English language for the students in SD Gunung Simping1 Cilacap. The method used to collect the data was observation which involves the students in grade 5 SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap with the number of 35 students in total. Then, the english teacher of English in SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap was interviewed, documentation was made, during the learning process in the classroom and the questionnaire was organized for the students in grade 5 in SD Gunung Simping 1 Cilacap. The results of the research show that the active learning methodcould produce the effective method in learning to the students, especially in English learning. Reviewing at the students result of the study, the writer concluded that the active learning method can improve the students score in English learning. It is proven that the improvement of the score by conducting middle test in semester II and final test in semester II, it is significant the result showed that before applying the active learning method, there were 3 students who got the result <50 for the middle test in semester II. Meanwhile, in the final test in semester II which the active learning method was applied, the result was there was one student who got <50. According to the result, it could be concluded that the students preferred to take the active learning method.
