PERAN ORGANISASI WARTAWAN DALAM USAHA MENINGKATKAN PROFESIONALISME WARTAWAN (STUDI KASUS PADA PWI DAN AJI JOGJA DALAM USAHA MENINGKATKAN PROFESIONALISME WARTAWAN)

Pers yang profesional akan mampu memproduksi jurnalisme yang sehat. Profesionalisme pers didukung oleh manajemen yang sehat, kualitas lembaga pers, dan tentunya wartawan yang tunduk pada aturan yang tertera dalam kode etik profesi. Seorang wartawan perlu berafiliasi dengan sebuah komunitas atau organisasi wartawan guna meningkatkan profesionalismenya. Organisasi wartawan memiliki mandat untuk mendukung serta memelihara dan menjaga kemerdekaan pers. Atas dasar inilah peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian terhadap peran dari organisasi wartawan, yakni PWI dan AJI Jogja, dengan fokus utama peningkatan profesionalisme wartawan. Organisasi wartawan haruslah memiliki integritas dan kredibilitas yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemerdekaan pers yang profesional. Artinya, pelaku pers khususnya wartawan haruslah memiliki tingkat profesionalisme yang tinggi untuk menunjang kinerjanya. Metode penelitian yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus, dan dianalisis dengan deskriptif-eksploratis. Alasan menggunakan analisis ini karena mampu memberikan gambaran dan alasan mendetail berkaitan dengan program-program yang dilakukan oleh PWI dan AJI Jogja untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme wartawan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi langsung, wawancara tak terstruktur dan studi pustaka. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan diantara PWI dan AJI Jogja, dimana peran AJI Jogja dalam meningkatkan profesionalisme wartawan lebih berhasil dibandingkan PWI Jogja. Hal ini terlihat dari banyaknya program-program yang dilakukan oleh AJI Jogja dalam meningkatkan profesionalisme wartawan.

The Professional Press will be capable to produceda healthjournalism. The professionalism of Press is supported by good management, quality Pressagencies, and journalists must obey to the rules that contained in the code of professional conduct. A journalist needs to be affiliated with a community or organization of journalists in order to improve their professionalism. Journalist organization has a mandate to supported, preserved and to maintained the freedom of the press. Based on these the researcher is interested in to conducting research on the role of the journalist organizations, there are PWI and AJI Jogja, with the main focus of increased professionalism of journalist. Journalist organizations should have integrity and credibility that aims to developed the professional freedom of the press. That is the press, especially the journalist should have a high class of professionalism to supported their performanced. The method used in this research is a case study, and analyzed with descriptive-eksploratize. The reason for using this method due to get an answer to the question how and why to a series of contemporary events that become the object of research. Why in this study is about the importance of professionalism of journalists, and How in this study is on the role of PWI and AJI Jogja in order to increased the professionalism of journalists. Data is done by direct observation, unstructured interviews and literature. Based on the results of the study stated that the professionalism of journalists was very important in the performance of the journalists, and found a little different roles in the effort to increased professionalism by PWI and AJI Jogja. Which AJI Jogja in an effort to improved the professionalism of journalists is more relaxed in its communicated than PWI Jogja. Beside that, AJI Jogja focus on issues that are booming and needed by its members to supported professionalism.
