Water, Sanitation and Health Outcomes in Indonesia: A Cross-Section Analysis in 2011

One of the MDG������¢���¯���¿���½���¯���¿���½s goal that have not been achieved by Indonesia in 2015 is improving sustainable access to clean water and basic sanitation. Although the important of access to safe water and sanitation is to public health is widely known, limited study about the effect of that of in Indonesia. This study examines the relationship between providing access to clean water and sanitation on five health outcomes by utilising data from National Socio Economic Survey (Susenas), Village Census (Podes) and Indonesia Data for Policy and Economic Research (Indo Dapoer) in 2011 using OLS and analysing data from more than 450 district in Indonesia. The result shows that access to sanitation is more relates to the children mortality under 5 years old, diarrhoea incidence and morbidity rates compare to access to water.
