Studi Kelayakan Proyek Investasi Mesin Wrapping Untuk Karton Box Pada PT XYZ

PT XYZ adalah perusahaan produsen tepung terigu di Indonesia. Kegiatan utama perusahaan adalah memproduksi dan menjual tepung terigu dalam berbagai merek dagang dan ukuran kemasan. Seiring dengan berkembangnya dunia usaha dan persaingan yang semakin ketat, perusahaan harus terus melakukan inovasi dan perbaikan dalam mutu barang dan layanan serta efisiensi dalam menekan biaya produksi. Terdapat dua alternatif sebagai upaya perusahaan untuk efisiensi, yaitu dengan rencana investasi mesin wrapping untuk karton box atau investasi mesin autocase packer. Oleh karena itu penulis melakukan studi kelayakan diantara kedua alternatif tersebut, yang dapat meningkatkan efisiensi biaya produksi di PT XYZ dan layak dibeli. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan fokus aspek keuangan dengan kriteria yang digunakan adalah Payback Period (PBP), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), dan Profitability Index (PI). Berdasarkan analisa aspek keuangan dengan kriteria PBP, jangka waktu yang diperlukan oleh perusahaan untuk break event point (BEP) untuk alternatif satu (investasi mesin wrapping untuk karton box) yaitu kurang dari dua tahun sedangkan break even point pada alternatif kedua (investasi mesin autocase packer) selama 10 tahun. Selain itu, NPV alternatif satu bernilai positif, IRR yang jauh lebih besar dari suku bunga yang ditetapkan, dan PI yang lebih dari 1 (satu) yang artinya investasi ini menguntungkan dan layak. Namun, investasi alternatif dua dikatakan tidak layak karena NPV maupun IRR menunjukkan angka yang negatif. Atas hasil penelitian dan pembahasan yang telah dilakukan, penulis berkesimpulan bahwa perusahaan sebaiknya merealisasikan alternatif satu karena mampu memberikan manfaat dengan mengurangi tingkat kerusakan karton box dan menghemat biaya produksi.

PT XYZ is a manufacturer of wheat flour in Indonesia. The main activity of the company is producing and selling wheat flour in various trademarks and packaging sizes. Along with the development of business and increasingly fierce competition, the company must continue to make innovation and improve the quality of goods and services as well as efficiency in lower production cost. There are two alternatives as the company�s efforts for efficiency, ie the investment plan on wrapping machine for carton boxes or investment on autocase packer machine. Therefore, the author conducted feasibility study between these two alternatives, which could improve the efficiency of production cost in PT XYZ and worth to buy. The author uses descriptive qualitative reasearch method with a focus on the financial aspects of the criteria used are the Payback Period (PBP), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Profitability Index (PI). Based on the analysis of the financial aspects with PBP criteria, the time period required by the Company to break even point (BEP) for the first alternative (investment on wrapping machine for carton box) is less than 2 (two) years, while the break even point in the second alternative (investment on autocase packer machine) is 10 (ten) years. In addition, the NPV of the first alternative is positive, the IRR is much more than the specified interest rate, and PI is more than 1 (one) which all means that the investment is profitable and feasible. However, the second alternative investment is not feasible because NPV and IRR indicate negative amount. From the results of research and discussion that has been done, the author concluded that the Company should realize the first alternative investment because it could provide benefit of reducing damage level to the carton box and save production costs.
