PENGALAMAN PERAWAT DALAM MELAKUKAN KONSELING MENYUSUI SEBAGAI DUKUNGAN BAGI IBU MENYUSUI

Latar Belakang : Perawat konselor menyusui bertanggung jawab terhadap informasi pemberian ASI yang benar melalui konseling untuk meningkatkan keberhasilan menyusui. Keefektifan pelaksanaan konseling menyusui tersebut dipengaruhi oleh berbagai hal diantaranya beban kerja yang tinggi dan terbatasnya waktu perawat. Tujuan : Mengeksplorasi pengalaman perawat dalam melakukan konseling menyusui sekaligus mengetahui pentingnya konseling menyusui, gambaran dan tantangan pelaksanaan konseling menyusui yang efektif. Metode : Kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi deskriptif. Partisipan terdiri dari enam perawat konselor menyusui di kota Yogyakarta dan enam pasien yang pernah menerima konseling menyusui. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam dan observasi lapangan. Analisis menggunakan tahapan colaizzi (1978) dengan bantuan software open code versi 4.02. Hasil: Konseling menyusui mempunyai banyak manfaat sehingga pelaksanaannya harus efektif. Tetapi dalam implementasinya, masih ditemukan beberapa hambatan misalnya sikap perawat yang tidak profesional, tingginya beban kerja, sedikitnya jumlah perawat konselor dan kurangnya dukungan dari pimpinan. Oleh karena itu, untuk mendukung keberhasilan pelaksanaan konseling menyusui perawat harus memiliki kompetensi yang baik meliputi keterampilan konseling menyusui dan motivasi yang tinggi. Selain itu perawat juga mengharapkan adanya kelengkapan fasilitas pendukung sesuai standar, dukungan dan kerjasama berbagai pihak serta penghargaan untuk perawat konselor menyusui agar pelaksanaan konseling efektif. Kesimpulan : Konseling menyusui belum dilakukan dengan efektif oleh perawat konselor karena adanya banyak hambatan. Sehingga diperlukan adanya pembagian beban kerja yang sesuai, penambahan jumlah perawat konselor menyusui, dukungan dari pimpinan, perbaikan fasilitas konseling menyusui dan pemberian penghargaan. Selain itu upaya peningkatan knowledge dan motivasi perlu dilakukan untuk meningkatkan komitmen perawat konselor menyusui

Background: Breastfeeding Counselor Nurse is responsible for a proper breastfeeding information through counseling. The effectiveness of the implementation of breastfeeding counseling is influenced by factors such as a high workload and a limited time the nurses have. Objective: This research is aimed to explore nurses experiences, importance, description, and obstacles in carrying out an effective breastfeeding counseling. Method: This study employes a qualitative method with descriptive phenomenological approach. The participants are 6 breastfeeding counselor nurses in Yogyakarta and 6 patients who recieve breastfeeding counseling. The data were collected by interviews and field observation. The analysis uses analysis stages based on Colaizzi and open-code software version 4.02. Finding: The breastfeeding counseling has great benefits so that it should be held effectively. However, it is facing problems such as unprofessional nurse, high workload, the least number of counselor nurses, and lack support from stakeholder. To succeed the implementation of it, the nurses should have good competences like breastfeeding counseling skill and high motivation. The nurse also expects standardized supporting facilities, support and cooperation from stakeholders, and reward to support the effective implementation of breastfeeding counseling. Conclusion: The breastfeeding counseling has not been implemented effectively because of many reasons. The solutions include the workload division of nurses accordingly, increasing the number of breastfeeding counselor nurses, support from the stakeholders, improvement of breastfeeding counseling facilities, and reward. The efforts to improve knowledge and motivation need to be done in order to strengthen the commitment of breastfeeding counseling nurse
