The Effect of Perceived Organizational Support and Job Satisfaction on Organizational Commitment: Study in Directorate General of Customs and Excise of Republic of Indonesia

2015 | Tesis | S2 ManajemenPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh persepsi dukungan organisasi dan kepuasan kerja terhadap tiga komponen komitmen organisasi, yaitu affective commitment, continuance commitment, dan normative commitment di DJBC Kemenkeu-RI. Sebanyak 235 responden telah menjawab kuesioner secara lengkap yang meliputi karakteristik demografi, persepsi karyawan tentang bagaimana mereka dihargai dan diakomodasi oleh organisasi, dan kepuasan kerja untuk kemudian dianalisis guna menjawab rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi dukungan organisasi memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dan positif dengan affective commitment dan normative commitment. Sementara itu, kepuasan kerja tidak hanya berpengaruh positif terhadap affective commitment dan normative commitment tetapi juga continuance comitment. Selain itu, fakta di luar fokus utama penelitian ini terungkap berupa adanya efek negative dari tingkat pendidikan terakhir karyawan terhadap continuance commitment, sedangkan tingkat usia berpengaruh positif terhadap continuance commitment.
This study aims to examine the influence of perceived organizational support and job satisfaction on three components of organizational commitment (Affective Commitment, Continuance Commitment, and Normative Commitment) in DGCE of MOF-RI. A total of 235 respondents completely answered queries that include demographic characteristics, employees’ perception on how they are valued and accommodated by the organization, and their job satisfaction were analyzed to reveal the problem statement of this research. The research findings show that perceived organizational support has significant and positive correlation with affective and normative commitment. Meanwhile, job satisfaction has not only positive effect to affective and normative commitment but also continuance commitment. In addition, surprising facts were revealed beyond the research’s main focus which shows employees’ last educational level has negative effect whereas their level of age has positive effect on continuance commitment.
