Alat berat terutama excavator telah menjadi salah satu alat pendukung pertambangan yang sangat penting untuk proces produksi. Ketika berpindah tempat, travel reduction gear yang merupakan aktutor pada undercarriage. Perangkat perjalanan bekerja terus menerus selama proses. Hal ini tentunya akan menimbulkan masalah yang tidak dapat dihindari. Namun, masalah yang terjadi dapat diminimalisir dengan tindakan pencegahan dalam komponen perangkat perjalanan. Metode pertama yang digunakan laporan ini adalah pemahaman literatur. Data yang diperoleh diambil dari pemahaman literatur yang mengacu masalah. Kedua, metode observasi. Metode ini diambil ketika melakukan praktek kerja industri. Metode terakhir adalah wawancara, dengan mengajukan pertanyaan tentang masalah-masalah yang sering terjadi kepada karyawan yang berpengalaman di bidangnya. Masalah umum pada travel reduction gear seperti eksternal kebocoran, retak, dan kontaminasi dapat diminimalisir dengan tindakan pencegahan dan perbaikan, mulai dari pilih oli yang tepat, pemeliharaan pencegahan, dan pengoperasian unit dengan prosedur yang benar

Heavy duty equipment especially excavator has become one of the mining support tools which are very important to the production proceses. When the traveling process, the undercarriage, especially on its actuator form of a travel reduction gear. The travel device is working continuously during the process. This is certainly going to cause a problem that can not be avoided. However, the problems that occur can be minimized with preventive measure in the travel device components. The first method used this report is the literature understanding. The data obtained is taken from the literature understanding that refers to the problem. Secondly, the observation method. This method was taken when doing industrial work practices. The last method is the interview, by asking question about the problems that often occur to employees who are experienced in their field. Common problems in travel reduction gear such as an external leak, crack, and contamination can be minimized with preventive measures and treatment, starting from select the proper oil, preventive maintenance, and operation of the unit with the right procedure.
