INTISARI Prarancangan pabrik metil salisilat dari metanol dan asam salisilat ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji lebih lanjut kelayakan pabrik untuk didirikan.Metil Salisilat dapat digunakan sebagai bahanbakuuntuksintesisbahanfarmasi, terutamadigunakanuntukpenghilang rasa sakit, pemberi aroma pada industri makanan atau kosmetik, serta flavouring dan stabilizer. Metil Salisilat menjadi salah satu bahan yang sangat kita butuhkan dimana sampai saat ini masih diimpor dari negara lain. Pabrik metil salisilat ini dirancang dengan kapasitas 50.000 ton/tahun dan beroperasi secara kontinyu selama 330 hari/tahun dan 24 jam/hari. Bahan baku dari proses yang terjadi di pabrik ini adalah metanol dengan kadar 99,85% (w/w) dan asam salisilat. Produk yang dihasilkan adalah metil salisilat dengan kadar 99,65% (w/w).Untuk memperoleh produk yang sesuai dengan kapasitas, dibutuhkan 97174991,2320 ton/tahun methanol dan 52361307,5040 ton/tahun asam salisilat sebagai bahan bakuutama. Secara umum, tahapan proses pembuatan metil salisilat adalah sebagai berikut : (i) reaksi antara metanol dan asam salisilat dengan katalisator asam sulfat dalam reaktor alir tangki berpengaduk, (ii) netralisasi katalisator asam dan sisa asam salisilat yang tidak bereaksi menggunakan larutan NaOH encer, (iii) pemisahan garam-garam hasil netralisasi, (iv) pemurnian produk metil salisilat melalui proses evaporasi dan (v) recovery metanol dengan proses distilasi. Pabrik ini akan didirikan di Gresik, Jawa Timur dengan pertimbangan raw material memadai.Kawasan Gresik dekat dengan industri asam sulfat dan dekat dengan pelabuhan sehingga mempermudah pengadaan bahan baku asam salisilat yang didatangkan dari Cina serta pemasaran produk metil salisilat yang banyak digunakan pada industri farmasi di Pulau Jawa. Evaluasi ekonomi memberikan modal tetap yang dibutuhkan sebesar Rp603.873.110.387,60, modal kerja sebesar Rp550.675.310.765,42. Pada kapasitas 100% produksi, diperoleh ROI before tax sebesar 42,88 %, ROI after tax sebesar 32,16 , POT before tax sebesar 1,89 tahun , POT after tax sebesar 2,37 tahun dengan BEP sebesar 47,38% SDP sebesar 31,42% , dan DCFRR sebesar 39,41 %. Berdasarkan pertimbangan hasil evaluasi tersebut, maka pabrik metil salisilat dengan kapasitas 50.000 ton/tahun ini layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.

ABSTRACT Preliminary design of this methyl salicylate plant is intended to asses the feasibility of this plant. Methyl salicylate can be used as raw material for the synthesis of pharmaceutical materials, mainly used for pain relief, flavor concentrates on the food or cosmetics industry, as well as flavoring and stabilizer. Methyl salicylate become one of the ingredients that we desperately need which is still imported from other countries. Methyl salicylate plant is designed with a capacity of 50,000 tons / year and operated continuously for 330 days / year and 24 hours / day. To obtain a product in accordance with the capacity, it requires. 97174991,2320 tons / year methanol 99.85% (w / w) and 52361307,5040 ton / year salicylic acid 99.65% (w / w) as the main raw material. The method used is the Fischer Esterification with liquid sulfuric acid catalyst. The process used to produce methyl salicylate is the fiscer esterification with sulfuric acid catalyst. In general, the methyl salicylate manufacturing process is as follos : (i) reaction between methanol and salicylic acid with sulfuric acid catalyst in a continous����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½������¢����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½����¯�¿�½������¯����¯�¿�½������¿����¯�¿�½������½stirred tank reactor, (ii) neutralization of acid catalyst and residual unreached salicylate acid using dilute NaOH solution, (iii) separation of salts, (iv) methyl salicylate purification through evaporation and (v) methanol recovery through distilation This factory will be established in Gresik, East Java Gresik because of close to the sulfuric acid industry and close to the port, thus simplifying the procurement of raw materials salicylic acid were imported from China as well as the marketing of methyl salicylate products are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry in Java. Economic evaluation provide fixed capital needed for Rp603.873.110.387,60, working capital of Rp550.675.310.765,42. At 100% production capacity, obtained ROI before tax amounted to 42.88%, ROI after tax of 32.16, before tax POT 1.89 years, POT after tax 2.37 years with 47.38% of BEP SDP by 31, 42%, and DCFRR amounted to 39.41%. Based on consideration of the results of these evaluations, the methyl salicylate plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons / year deserve to be studied further.
