THE OBSTACLES IN THE SELECTION OF DIMAS DIAJENG JOGJA 2014 HELD BY YOGYAKARTA PROVINCIAL TOURISM OFFICE

Tujuan tugas akhir ini adalah untuk menganalisis kendala atau tantangan yang terjadi dalam Pemilihan Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014 yang di selenggarakan oleh Dinas Pariwisata Provinsi Yogyakarta. Selain itu, penulis menganalisis setiap tahap kegiatan pada Pemilihan Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014 untuk mengidentifikasi kendala atau tantangan yang dihadapi oleh penyelenggara mulai dari persiapan, eksekusi, hingga evaluasi sesuai dengan teori festival dan manajement acara oleh Galal Salem, Jones Eleri and Nigel Morgan. Dalam tugas akhir ini, penulis juga menjelaskan mengenai latar belakang terbentuknya Dimas Diajeng Jogja serta pihak-pihak yang ikut terlibat dalam Pemilihan Dimas Diajeng Jogja sebagai duta pariwisata Yogyakarta. Metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah menjadi partisipan langsung melalui program magang pada bulan Maret hingga Mei 2015 di Dinas Pariwisata Provinsi Yogyakarta dengan cara pengamatan langsung dan ikut terlibat dalam pembukuan laporan kegiatan. Penulis juga melakukan wawancara dengan pihak terkait seperti staff seksi sumber daya manusia pada Subbag Kapasitas, staff Subbag Program dan Informasi, ketua Paguyuban Dimas Diajeng 2014 sebagai peserta Pemilihan Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014, dan ketua Panitia Pemilihan Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014 untuk melengkapi informasi mengenai latar belakang Dimas Diajeng Jogja, proses penyelenggaraan Pemilihan Dimas Diajeng Jogja, dan kendala atau tantangan pada saat acara tersebut berlangsung. Untuk menambah informasi terkait, penulis juga mempelajari beberapa buku sebagai studi pustaka dan mempelajari beberapa artikel di internet. Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan, terdapat beberapa tahapan dalam penyelenggaraan acara seperti persiapan, eksekusi, dan evaluasi. Meskipun terdapat beberapa kendala seperti kedisipilinan, keterbatasan tenaga manusia, pemilihan juri, dan efisiensi waktu, hal ini dapat ditangani oleh Paguyuban Dimas Diajeng sebagai panitia penyelenggara sehingga semua rangkaian acara dapat terlaksana. Paguyuban Dimas Diajeng sebagai panitia acara dan Dinas Pariwisata Provinsi Yogyakarta sebagai pihak penyelenggara acara dapat bekerjasama dengan baik, meskipun masih ada beberapa aspek yang harus ditingkatkan untuk pemilihan selanjutnya.

The aim of this graduating paper is to analyze the obstacles in the Selection of Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014 which held by Yogyakarta Provincial Tourism Office. In addition, the writer analyzes each stage of activities on the Selection of Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014 to identify the obstacles faced by the event organizer, starts from the detailed planning, implementation, and evaluation based on the theory of Festival and Management Event by Galal Salem, Jones Eleri and Nigel Morgan. In this graduating paper, the writer also explains about the background information of Dimas Diajeng Jogja and the parties involved on the Selection of Dimas Diajeng Jogja as the tourism ambassador of Yogyakarta. To collect the data in this research, the writer has been a participant by doing an internship program from March to May 2015 in Yogyakarta Provincial Tourism Office. The writer did a direct observation and involved in the writing of the report of event. She also interviewed some relevant parties such as the staff of the section of human resources in the sector of development capacity, the staff of Program and Information Sub Division, the head of Paguyuban Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014 as the participant of the event, the coordinator of committee of the Selection of Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014 to complete the background information of Dimas Diajeng Jogja, the process of holding the Selection of Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014, and the obstacles occurred on the implementation. To additional information, the writer read some books as literature and some articles on the internet. Based on the research, there are some phases in the event such as detailed planning, implementation, and the evaluation. Although there are some obstacles on the Selection of Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2014 such as punctuality, the limitation of committee members, the judges, and time efficiency, it can be handled by Paguyuban Dimas Diajeng as the event organizer, so that all of the event in the selection can be implemented. Paguyuban Dimas Diajeng as the event organizer and Yogyakarta Provincial Tourism Office as the facilitator can work together. However, there are still some aspects that need to be improved for the next selection.
