Excavator adalah alat berat yang terdiri dari upperstructure yang dapat berputar 360 derajat dan undercarriage untuk berpindah tempat. Excavator memiliki beberapa komponen pendukung gerakan, salah satunya yaitu hydraulic cylinder yang berada pada front attachment. Hydraulic cylinder menjadi komponen penting dalam menggerakkan boom, arm, dan bucket. Kegiatan excavator yang lama saat beroperasi di pertambangan, membuat hydraulic cylinder harus mampu menahan beban yang lama saat beroperasi. Hal tersebut membutuhkan komponen yang benar-benar harus terpasang dengan baik sehingga fungsinya bisa digunakan secara maksimal. Pembelajaran proses assembly hydraulic cylinder secara prosedur perlu diperhatikan terutama untuk jurusan Teknik Alat Berat. Dalam proses pembelajaran, hal ini dapat meningkatkan keterampilan. Metode assembly yang digunakan pada hydraulic cylinder adalah sistem sequence (proses urutan). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari beberapa langkah. Melakukan studi literatur, pengamatan, dan wawancara. Proses assembly yang baik ditentukan oleh mekanik yang mengerjakannya sesuai dengan urutan prosedur perusahaan yang ada dan lingkungan yang bersih dapat terhidar dari kontaminasi terhadap ruang dalam cylinder. Tahapannya harus sesuai dengan treatment yang dilakukan agar menghindari terjadinya kesalahan.

Excavator is a machine that consists of rotatable upperstructure and undercarriage for movement activity. Excavator has some supporting component of motion, one of them is hydraulic cylinder which is located on the front attachments. Hydraulic cylinder is an important component which functions to move boom, arm, and bucket. It has to be sturdy when operated in the mining process in a long period of time. It should be properly plugged so that the function can be used optimally. The learning process of assembling of hydraulic cylinder (based on the procedure applied) are become the main concern for heavy equipment engineering students in order to increase the skills of the student itself. Assembly method that used in hydraulic cylinder is a squence system. The method that used in this research consists of some steps. They are literature study, observation, and interview. The assembly process is determined by the mechanic who works base on the company procedure and the clear environment which can avoid the contamination of cylinder room. The step should appropriate with the treatment in order to keep off the mistakes.
