STRUKTUR POPULASI DAN ESTIMASI HASIL TANGKAPAN KEPITING BAKAU (Scylla serrata Forskal 1775) PADA KAWASAN MANGROVE DESA LEKSULA KABUPATEN BURU SELATAN

2015 | Tesis | S2 BiologiABSTRAK Aktivitas penangkapan kepiting Scylla serrata yang terlalu sering menyebabkan penurunan populasinya di alam. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui struktur populasi dan estimasi hasil tangkapan kepiting S. serrata di kawasan mangrove sasi dan tidak sasi di desa Leksula. Pengamatan S. serrata menggunakan alat tangkap tradisional bubu. Data kepiting meliputi jumlah individu tiap kelamin, panjang karapas dan berat badan. Pengukuran faktor fisikokimia udara, substrat dan serasah dilakukan saat pendataan kepiting. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tekstur substrat di lokasi sasi adalah geluh pasiran dan geluh dengan kandungan karbon dan bahan organik tinggi, sementara tekstur substrat di lokasi tidak sasi adalah pasir dan pasir geluhan dengan kandungan karbon dan bahan organik rendah. Struktur populasi kepiting S. serrata di lokasi sasi didominasi oleh kepiting dewasa awal. Sebanyak 63,06% kepiting yang tertangkap belum matang kelamin. Panjang karapas kepiting jantan berkisar dari 52,2-116,68 mm dan panjang karapas kepiting betina berkisar dari 34,15-114,56 mm. Pola pertumbuhan kepiting S. serrata di lokasi sasi adalah allometrik positif. Rasio jantan:betina 1:1,06. Struktur populasi kepiting S. serrata di lokasi tidak sasi tidak dapat dianalisis karena data yang sangat minim. Estimasi hasil tangkapan kepiting di lokasi sasi 1,85 ekor/trip dan di lokasi tidak sasi 0,08 ekor/trip. Penerapan sasi memberikan hasil tangkapan kepiting S. serrata yang lebih baik.
THE POPULATION STRUCTURE AND THE CATCH RESULT ESTIMATION OF MANGROVE CRABS (Scylla serrata FORSKAL 1775) IN MANGROVE AREA OF LEKSULA VILLAGE OF SOUTH BURU DISTRICT ABSTRACT Excessively high frequency of mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) catching activity caused the decrease in their natural population. The study aimed at investigating the population structure and the estimation of the catching result of the crabs in the mangrove sasi and non-sasi in Leksula village. The crabs were observed using traditional crab catching tool called bubu, a plaited rattan fish trap. The data of the crabs included the number of individuals by sex, carapace length and body weight. Air physicochemistry, substrate and litter were measured while gathering data of the crabs. The results of the study showed that the substrate texture of the sasi location was claysandy and clay with high carbon and organic matter contents, while the substrate texture in the non-sasi location was sandy and sandyclay with low carbon and organic matter contents. The population structure of the crabs in the sasi location was dominated by the subadult crabs. There were 63.06% of the crabs caught and immature. The carapace length of the male crabs was in the range of 52.2-116.68 mm and that of the female crabs was in the range of 34.15-114.56 mm. The growth pattern of the crabs in the sasi location was positive allometric. The male-female ratio was 1:1.06. The population structure of the crabs in the non-sasi could not be analyzed because of very small data. The estimation of the crab catching result in the sasi location was 1.85 crabs/trip and in that of the crab catching result in the non-sasi location was 0.08 crabs/trip. The implementation of the sasi resulted in better crab catching result.
