PERUMUSAN EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS UNTUK LULUSAN PROGRAM STUDI ILMU KESEHATAN MASYARAKAT DI UNIVERSITAS AHMAD DAHLAN YOGYAKARTA

Latar belakang: Employability skills sebagai keterampilan umum (non teknis) berperan penting terhadap partisipasi individu yang efektif dan sukses di tempat kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi employability skills yang dibutuhkan oleh lulusan Program Studi Ilmu Kesehatan Masyarakat UAD (PS IKM UAD) di dunia kerja dan menilai pencapaian pengembangan employability skills yang telah dilakukan PS IKM UAD . Metode penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian campuran dengan rancangan konvergen. Penelitian kuantitatif dilakukan dengan survey kepada lulusan PS IKM UAD menggunakan kuesioner Keterampilan Umum dari Tuning Educational Structure. Penelitian kualitatif dilakukan dengan wawancara terstruktur kepada pengguna lulusan PS IKM UAD. Data kuantitatif dan kualitatif dianalisa secara terpisah dan diinterpretasi secara bersamaan. Hasil: Lulusan dan pengguna lulusan PS IKM UAD secara garis besar menunjukkan kesepakatan mengenai employability skills yang dibutuhkan di dunia kerja dan penilaian pencapaiannya. Sejumlah employability skills secara konsisten dianggap penting. Employability skills yang berhubungan dengan pengetahuan dan aplikasi di bidang kesehatan masyarakat pencapaiannya tinggi, sementara kemampuan analisis dan sintesis, learning to learn, kritis, kreativitas, problem solving, bekerja lintas ilmu, perencanaan proyek dan manajemen, inisiatif dan kewirausahaan pencapaiannya rendah. Kesimpulan: Employability skills untuk lulusan PS IKM UAD telah dirumuskan. Kurikulum PS IKM UAD belum mendukung pengembangan beberapa employability skills penting yang dibutuhkan di dunia kerja di abad ke-21. Revisi kurikulum direkomendasikan untuk mengintegrasikan employability skills ke dalam inti kegiatan akademik sehingga dapat meningkatkan pengembangan employability skills lulusan PS IKM UAD.

Background: Employability skills as generic skills (non technical skills) are important for effective and successful individual participation in the workplace. The main aims of the research were to identify important employability skills needed by graduates of Public Health Study Program Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (PHSP UAD) and to assess the achievement of the employability skills development that has been carried out by PHSP UAD. Methods: This study used a mixed method research with convergent design. Quantitative research was conducted with survey to graduates with General Skill questionnaire from Tuning Educational Structure. Qualitative research was conducted with structured interviews to employers. Both data were analyzed separately and interpreted concurrently. Results: Graduates and employers of PHSP UAD in broad outline were in line on the important employability skills needed in the workplace and the assessment of the achievement. Several employability skills consistently were considered important. The achievement of employability skills that were related to public health knowledge and its application was high, meanwhile the achievement of capacity for analysis and synthesis, learning to learn, critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, project planning and management, initiatives and entrepreneurship was low. Conclusion: Employability skills needed for graduates of PHSP UAD were formulated. The development of several important employability skills which are needed in the work place in the 21st century was not supported by PHSP UAD curriculum. Curriculum revision is recommended to integrate employability skills into core academic activities in order to promote the development of employability skills of PHSP UAD graduates.
