Skripsi ini menganalisis novel Elizabeth Coatsworth yang berjudul The White Room. Novel ini bercerita tentang Laura King yang harus menderita di bawah tekanan kakak iparnya yang bernama Maidie. Setelah Maidie tinggal bersama keluarganya, Laura mulai mengalami berbagai masalah. Saat ia berusaha untuk mennyelesaikan masalahnya, sebuah pengalaman hampir mati mengubah hidupnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis perkembangan kepribadian Laura King dan menjelaskan signifikansi Pengalaman Hampir Mati dalam proses individuasi dirinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori kepribadian oleh Carl Gustav Jung untuk menganalisis perkembangan kepribadian Laura King. Inti dari teori Jung adalah proses pengintegrasian aspek kepribadian untuk menemukan arketip Diri, yang bisa ditemukan setelah melalui Proses Individuasi. Tinjauan pustaka dan sumber terpercaya dari beberapa situs internet digunakan untuk mendukung analisis ini. Hasil dari analisis menunjukkan bahwa Laura berhasil menemukan arketip Diri. Pengalaman hampir matinya menjadi katalis dalam proses individuasi dirinya.

This Graduating paper analyzes Elizabeth Coatsworths' The White Room. This novel tells about Laura King, a character in the novel, whom suffered from her tyrannical sister in law, Maidie. After Maidie lives with her family, series of problems started to arise and most of them befall Laura. While Laura is trying to fix her problems, an experience of near-death changes her life. The objective of this paper is to analyze Laura's personality development throughout the story and to explain the signification of Near-Death Experience to her Individuation process. This study employs Carl Gustav Jung's theory of personality to analyze Laura's personality development. The core of his theory is the integration of the aspects of personality to reveal the Self, which acquired through the Individuation process. To support the analysis, the library research is conducted alongside with other sources from the reliable websites. The result of the analysis shows that Laura King manages to reveal her true Self in the process of her personality development. The Near-Death Experience acted as catalyst in her Individuation process.
