Kebutuhan koneksi internet saat ini sudah menjadi kebutuhan penting terlebih lagi di kota- kota besar, hal tersebut tentunya membutuhkan sistem koneksi yang baik, cepat, dan ekonomis agar dapat mempergunakan fasilitas ini dengan nyaman. Teknologi nirkabel telah banyak diaplikasikan dalam menunjang infrastruktur telekomunikasi khususnya di daerah yang sulit dijangkau oleh infrastruktur yang menggunakan kabel. Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access yang lebih dikenal dengan WiMAX, adalah teknologi nirkabel yang akan memecahkan masalah koneksi yang terjadi sekarang ini. Teknologi WiMax di Indonesia telah diatur oleh pemerintah pada frekuensi 3,3 GHz. Dengan teknologi akses microwave, WiMAX akan menggunakan fungsi gelombang mikro sebagai media pengganti kabel, sehingga jangkauan area dan kemudahan penggunaan juga merupakan keunggulan yang ditawarkan oleh teknologi ini. Salah satu kelebihan yang dimiliki WiMAX adalah jangkauannya yang mencapai 50 km dan dapat bekerja baik pada kondisi LOS (Line of Sight) ataupun NLOS (Non Line of Sight).

The need for internet connection today has become an important requirement especially in the big cities, it would require a good, quick, and economic connection system in order to use this facility comfortably. Wireless technology has been widely applied in supporting the deployment of telecommunications infrastructure especially in areas difficult to reach by using the cable infrastructure. Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, better known as WiMAX, is the technology that will solve the connection problem is happening right now. WiMax technology in Indonesia has been regulated by the government at a frequency of 3.3 GHz. With microwave access technology, WiMAX will use the microwave function as a medium instead of wires, so the range area and ease of use are also advantages offered by this technology. One of the advantages of WiMAX is its scope that reaches 50 km and can work well on condition of LOS (Line of Sight) or NLOS (Non Line of Sight).
