HUBUNGAN ANTARA INDEKS BOLTON TOTAL DAN KEDALAMAN KURVA SPEE

Pertumbuhan dan perkembangan kompleks dentomaksilofasial dapat diketahui melalui pengukuran indeks Bolton total, overbite, dan kurva Spee. Indeks Bolton total berhubungan dengan besar overbite, selain itu overbite juga berhubungan dengan kedalaman kurva Spee. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengetahui hubungan antara indeks Bolton total dan kedalaman kurva Spee. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode selected sampling dan menggunakan cetakan gigi rahang atas dan bawah dari 35 subjek mahasiswa yang belum pernah dan tidak sedang melakukan perawatan ortodontik. Subjek tidak memiliki kebiasaan buruk, memiliki gigi geligi yang lengkap dan tidak memiliki karies atau tumpatan yang mengubah morfologi dan dan ukuran gigi. Hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson dan uji regresi linear untuk mengetahui hubungan antara indeks Bolton total dan kedalaman kurva Spee. Hasil uji korelasi Pearson menunjukkan hubungan yang bermakna antara indeks Bolton total dan kedalaman kurva Spee (p<0,05). Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah adanya hubungan antara indeks Bolton total dan kedalaman kurva Spee, semakin besar indeks Bolton total maka kurva Spee akan semakin datar sebaliknya semakin kecil indeks Bolton total kurva maka kurva Spee akan semakin dalam.

Growth of dentomaxillofacial complex can be known by measuring the total Bolton index, overbite, and the curve of Spee. Total Bolton index has correlation with overbite, however overbite has correlation with the depth of curve of Spee. The aim of this study is to find the relationship between total Bolton index and the depth of curve of Spee. This study had done using selected sampling method. In this study, 35 maxillary and mandibular dental cast of students who not in orthodontic treatment and never has orthodontic treatment were used. Subjects did not have bad habit, complete permanent dentition, and did not have caries or restoration that change tooth size and morphology. The result of this study was analyzed using Pearson correlation test and linear regression test to find the relationship between total Bolton index and the depth of curve of Spee. The Pearson correlation test result has showed that there was significant correlation between total Bolton index and curve of Spee (p<0,05). The conclusio of this study that there was correlation between total Bolton index and the depth of curve of Spee, bigger total Bolton index had flatter curve of Spee otherwise smaller total Bolton index had deeper curve of Spee.
