OPEN AIR THEATRE OF RAMAYANA BALLET PRAMBANAN: THE STAGE, SEAT ARRANGEMENT AND ITS INFLUENCE TOWARDS THE AUDIENCE

Tugas akhir yang berjudul OPEN AIR THEATRE RAMAYANA BALLET PRAMBANAN: PANGGUNG, SUSUNAN TEMPAT DUDUK DAN PENGARUHNYA TERHADAP PENONTON ini bertujuan membahas macam-macam panggung teater, menganalisa Open Air Theatre sebagai panggung arena berbentuk tapal kuda, menganalisa penonton dan pengaruh susunan tempat duduk, juga membahas susunan tempat duduk dan status sosial. Saya mengamati tiga pertunjukan Ramayana Ballet Prambanan yang di pentaskan di Open Air Theatre. Untuk mendapatkan data, saya menggunakan beberapa metode yaitu; observasi, interview, pencatatan, dokumentasi, dan juga studi kepustakaan. Metode yang saya gunakan untuk menganalisa data adalah metode analisis diskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penilitian, ada empat jenis panggung dasar, yaitu proscenium, thrust, arena, dan adaptable or experimental. Open Air Theatre merupakan panggung arena yang berbentuk tapal kuda. Disebut tapal kuda karena susunan tempat duduknya (auditorium) berbentuk seperti tapal kuda. Kemudian, susunan tempat duduk menggunakan arah mata angin, angka, dan huruf untuk mengklasifkasikan kelas dan nomor tempat duduk. Selanjutnya, susunan tempat duduk juga mempengaruhi penonton Ramayana Ballet Prambanan. Pengaruhnya yaitu pada jarak pandang, kenyamanan, dan timbal balik. Dalam konteks sosial, susunan tempat duduk Open Air Teater menunjukan status sosial seseorang. Disisi lain, klasifikasi berdasarkan pada kemampuan penonton untuk membeli tiket tanpa melihat latar belakang penonton.

This graduating paper entitled OPEN AIR STAGE OF RAMAYANA BALLET PRAMBANAN: THE STAGE, SEAT ARRANGEMENT AND ITS INFLUENCE TOWARDS THE AUDIENCE aims to discuss the styles of theatre stage, analysing the Open Air Theatre as a horseshoe-shaped arena stage, also analysing the audience relatedness to seat arrangement. I observed three performances of Ramayana Ballet Prambanan in Open Air Theatre. To gain the data, I used some methods. Those were observation, interview, note taking, documentation, and library research. I used descriptive analysis to analyse the data. Based on the findings of research, there are four basic styles of theatre stage, proscenium, thrust, arena, and adaptable or experimental stage. The style of Open Air theatre is a horseshoe-shaped arena stage. It is called horseshoe-shaped because the arrangement of the seat (auditorium) forms a horseshoe-shaped. Seat arrangement is a crucial matter; the arrangement of the seats uses wind direction, numeric, and alphabet to classify the class and seats number. Furthermore, seat arrangement influences the audience of Ramayana Ballet Prambanan. The influence is on the visibility, comfort, and feedback. In social context, the arrangement of the seat in Open Air Theatre shows someones status. On the other hand, the classification is based on the ability of the audience to buy the ticket without considering the backgrounds of the audience.
