Tugas akhir ini berjudul TERJEMAHAN CERITA ANAK KOKARINA NO UMI KARYA SUZUKI YUKIE DAN KOIZUMI RUMIKO. Cerita anak ini bercerita tentang petualangan Yui, Shou, Ryouji dan kakek. Selain hasil terjemahan, dalam Tugas Akhir ini juga dibahas tentang sifat masing-masing tokoh cerita berdasarkan penggalan-penggalan cerita yang menggambarkan sifat-sifat tersebut. Metode terjemahan yang digunakan adalah metode komunikatif. Metode ini berusaha mempertahankan makna kontekstual bahasa sumber, baik dari segi isi maupun bahasanya, sehingga pembaca tidak mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami teks terjemahan. Berdasarkan isi cerita dapat diketahui karakter (sifat) masing-masing tokoh. Yui memiliki rasa keingintahuan yang tinggi, peduli, berani, mau mengajari orang lain, dan sifat berbagi. Shou memiliki sifat rela berkorban, perhatian, dan ramah. Ryouji memiliki sifat ramah dan sifat perhatian. Kakek memiliki sifat peduli terhadap lingkungan dan sifat mudah tersentuh.

This final paper entitled Translation of a Child Story Kokarina No Umi was created by Yukie Suzuki and. This child story told about the adventure of Yui, Shou, Ryouji dan Grandfather. Besides the translation, the result of this final paper also discussed about the characteristics of the figures according to the fragments of this child story which described their characteristics. The method of this translation was communicative method. This method attempted to keep the contextual meaning of the language source both in terms of the content and its language, furthermore the readers will find it easy to learn the translation text. The characteristics of the figures can be seen based on the content of the story. Yui has great curiousity, care, fearless, willingness to teach others and helpful. Shou has willingness to sacrifice, attentive, and friendly characteristics. Ryouji has friendly and attentive characteristics. Grandfather has care for the environment and sensitive charateristics.
