Perkembangan teknologi yang berkembang pesat, salah satunya dibidang transportasi, memberikan dampak semakin menumpuknya kendaraan-kendaraan pribadi di ruas-ruas jalan yang menimbulkan kemacetan dimana-mana. Salah satu langkah yang dilakukan pemerintah untuk mengurangi kemacetan yaitu dengan menggalakan penggunaan transportasi umum. Sistem Pelaporan Penghitungan Jumlah Penumpang Diangkutan Umum dan Lokasi Halte Melalui SMS Berbasis Mikrokontroler pun muncul sebagai salah satu fasilitas yang berguna untuk membantu peningkatan kinerja sarana transportasi umum. Alat ini diharapkan dapat mempermudah dan mempercepat proses pencatatan atau pendataan penumpang, lokasi halte bus serta waktu tiba dan berangkat bus dari halte. Sistem ini bekerja dengan menggunakan modul Arduino Uno sebagai pengontrol utama, modul RTC DS1307 yang berperan memberikan data waktu secara real, modul LCD Keypad Shield yang berfungsi sebagai penampil dan pengontrol, dan modul GSM/GPS/GPRS SIM908 V3.0 yang berperan memberikan informasi koordinat lokasi halte bus serta menyampaikan data ke nomor tujuan melalui pesan singkat (SMS).

The rapidly evolving of technology developments, which one on the transportation field, give more vehicles pilling effect in the streets, after that cause a traffic jam. One of the solution for reduce traffic jam is promote to use the public transportation. Passangers Bus Recording and Location Public Transportation System Via SMS based Microcontroller appear as one of the facilities that are useful to help performance improvement of public transportation. This device be expected to facilitate and accelerate the recording process or passenger data collection, location of bus stops and the time of bus arrived and departed from the bus stops. This system works by using module Arduino Uno as the main controller, DS1307 RTC module which acts provides real-time data, the LCD Keypad Shield module that serves as a viewer and controller, and GSM / GPS / GPRS SIM908 V3.0 module acts to provide coordinate information about location of the bus stop and after that send data to the destination number or server via short messages (SMS).
