INTISARI Pemilihan Umum yang biasa disebut Pemilu merupakan amanat Pasal 22E Undang-Undang Dasar Republik Indonesia tahun 1945 yang dilakukan setiap lima tahun sekali yang bertujuan untuk memilih Presiden dan Wakil Presiden, anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat, Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah, dan Dewan Perwakilan Daerah. Terkhusus mengenai pemilu Presiden dan Wakil Presiden, karena belum ada satu peraturan perundangan pun yang mengatur tentang pasangan calon tunggal. Tujuan Penulisan Hukum ini untuk mengetahui legitimasi hukum dan politik calon pasangan tunggal dalam pemilu Presiden dan Wakil Presiden di Indonesia. Akan disajikan pula perbandingan pelaksanaan pilpres dengan calon tunggal di negara lain. Penulisan hukum ini menggunakan metode penelitian yang bersifat normatif, dengan menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder yang kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif dan disampaikan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa legitimasi secara hukum pemilu dengan calon tunggal tidak dapat dilakukan dan legitimasi secara politik harus mendapat suara mayoritas dari pemilih. ABSTRACT General election or usually called Election is a mandate from Article 22E of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia which is conducted every 5 years aiming to elect the President and Vice President, members of the House of Representatives, the Regional People������¢���¯���¿���½���¯���¿���½s House of Representatives, and the Council of Representatives of the Regions. Particulary in regard to Presidential Election, since none of laws and regulations govern about single pair of candidate. The purpose of this Legal Research is to ascertain legitimacy of law and politic of single pair of candidate within Presidential Election. Also will be delivered the comparison of how Presidential Election with single pair of candidate conducted in another states. This Legal Research used normative method research, using primary data and secondary data, which later analyzed qualitatively and delivered descriptively. The research result illustrates that legitimacy of law with single pair of candidate can not be conducted and legitimacy of politic must obtain the majority votes from the voters.
