PENGARUH PASTA EKSTRAK PIR (Pyrus communis) TERHADAP PENGHILANGAN EXTRINSIC STAIN PADA PERMUKAAN GIGI, GIGI ARTIFISIAL, DAN PLAT RESIN AKRILIK (Kajian in vitro)

Gigi, gigi artifisial, dan plat resin akrilik dapat mengalami perubahan warna karena adanya kromogen yang diserap plak dan pelikel. Penghilangan extrinsic stain dapat dilakukan dengan penyikatan. Pir (Pyrus communis) mengandung hidrogen peroksida yang dapat menghilangkan stain. Saat ini, hidrogen peroksida telah digunakan sebagai bahan bleaching pada gigi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah utuk mengetahui pengaruh pasta ekstrak pir (Pyrus communis) terhadap penghilangan stain pada permukaan gigi, gigi artifisial, dan plat resin akrilik (in vitro). Lima belas subjek penelitian gigi insisivus sentralis rahang atas pasca-pencabutan, 15 gigi artifisial insisivus sentralis rahang atas, dan 15 plat resin akrilik polimerisasi panas (20 x 20 x 3) mm3 direndam teh sebanyak 2g/100ml air mendidih selama 6 hari. Subjek penelitian dibagi 3 kelompok dan disikat dengan pasta dasar, pasta ekstrak pir, dan pasta penghilang stain. Pengambilan foto dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali menggunakan kamera CANON 1100D yaitu sebelum pembentukan extrinsic stain, setelah pembentukan extrinsic stain, dan setelah penyikatan, kemudian dianalisis dengan software Adobe Photoshop sistem CIELAB. Selisih intensitas kecerahan warna setelah perendaman dan penyikatan dianalisis statistik. Hasil Two Way Anova menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada subjek penelitian dan jenis pasta. Uji post hoc LSD menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara pasta ekstrak pir dan pasta penghilang stain pada ketiga subjek penelitian. Gigi dan gigi artifisial menunjukkan perbedaan yang tidak signifikan pada perlakuan ketiga pasta. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh pasta ekstrak pir terhadap penghilangan extrinsic stain pada permukaan gigi, gigi artifisial, dan plat resin akrilik.
Tooth colour is one of important factor which influence performance. Teeth, artificial teeth, and acrylic resin discolouration are caused by plaque and pellicle which absorb the chromogen. Brushing is one of the extrinsic stain removal method. Pear (Pyrus communis) contains hydrogen peroxide that can remove the stain. Nowadays, hidrogen peroxide has been used as tooth whitening material. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of paste of pear extract (Pyrus communis) toward extrinsic stain removal on the teeth, artificial teeth, and acrylic resin plate surface (in vitro). Fifteen maxillary central incisor postextraction, 15 maxillary central incisor artificial teeth, and 15 hot cured acrylic resin plat (20 x 20 x 3) mm3 were immersed in 2g/100ml boiled black tea for 6 days. Subject of this study were divided into 3 groups, brushed with basic paste, paste of pear extract, and stain removal paste. Surface image of subject were taken a picture three times with CANON 1100D, before and after immersed in black tea and after brushing. The image results were analyzed by Adobe Photoshop CIELAB system. The differences of colour brightness intensity between post-staining image and post-brushing image were calculated by statistical analysis. The result of Two Way Anova showed that mean of brightness intensity between subject group and pastes had significant difference. Post hoc LSD test showed that there was no significant difference between paste of pear extract dan stain removal paste. There was no significant difference between pastes application on the teeth and artificial teeth surface. The conclusion of this study was paste of pear extract affects stain removal on teeth, artificial teeth, and acrylic resin surface.
