REPERTOIRE DALAM THE GREAT GATSBY KARYA F. SCOTT FITZGERALD: ANALISIS RESPONS ESTETIK WOLFGANG ISER

Munculnya karya sastra di Amerika, banyak dipengaruhi oleh perkembangan dan kemajuan atmosfirnya. Perubahan itu turut membangun Amerika hingga memasuki abad ke-20. Hadirnya prosa-prosa Amerika tidak dapat dipisahkan dari realitas penciptaannya. Kehidupan masyarakat adalah bagian dari kumpulan pengalaman dan pengetahuan yang mengisi karya sastra. Oleh karena, pengarang adalah bagian dari masyarakat, sudah pasti segala realitas yang ada di luar dirinya berperan penting dalam prosa yang dihasilkan. Salah satu karya sastra Amerika yang menunjukkan adanya korelasi antara fakta sosial, historis dan kultur sebagai fenomena realitas dan fiksi sebagai dunia rekaan pengarang adalah The Great Gatsby karya F. Scott. Fitzgerald. Dengan demikian, untuk mengungkapkan fakta-fakta realitas tersebut dan seberapa jauh fiksi merepresentasikan realitas diperlukan penelitian. Penelitian ini berjudul Repertoire dalam The Great Gatsby karya F. Scott. Fitzgerald: Analisis Respons Estetik Wolfgang Iser. Analisis ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan wujud repertoire dalam novel The Great Gatsby yang dijadikan background penulisan oleh pengarang sehingga foreground yang dituju nantinya dapat diuraikan. Disamping itu, analisis ini juga memunculkan efek (Wirkung) untuk menimbulkan respons estetik dengan berbekal repertoire yang ada dalam teks dan yang dimiliki. Analisis ini menggunakan keseluruhan teks yang dapat diketahui dalam The Great Gatsby sebagai objek kajian, dan teori repertoire Wolfgang Iser sebagai pemandu. Kemudian, objek kajian tersebut dihubungkan dengan segala sesuatu yang menjadi latar penciptaan, termasuk norma sosial, historis, dan keseluruhan kultur yang melingkupi terciptanya teks tersebut. Setelah melakukan proses komunikasi, pembacaan, dan dibuat analisis data. Dari tindakan analisis ini dapat diketahui bahwa norma sosial yang dapat diungkapkan dalam The Great Gatsby adalah fakta sosial masyarakat Amerika yang tidak terlepas dari spirit American Dream, baik dari golongan masyarakat kelas atas (upper class), maupun kelas bawah (lower class). Disamping itu juga, terdapat pencapaian ekonomi (materi), bisnis, dan berkurangnya nilai moral. Sementara, budaya yang ditangkap dalam The Great Gatsby adalah budaya pesta dansa, dan menyebarnya musik jass. Terakhir, fakta historis yang dapat diketahui sebagai latar adalah pertempuran besar di Meuse Argonne (Hutan Argonne), yang berlangsung pada masa PD-I. Kemudian, menyebarnya alkohol yang menyebabakan munculnya Prohibition (Undang-undang larangan). Berangkat dari background, dan dengan pemberian respons estetik, foreground yang dituju pengarang adalah fakta sosial, dimunculkan bahwa ideologi American Dream, yang menjadi pedoman masyarakat dalam mengejar kesuksesan, berhasil dalam mencari materi namun tetap miskin secara spiritual. Norma budaya yang terungkap adalah kegemaran pesta dansa, dan iringan musik jazz. Budaya ini adalah suatu protes atas masyarakat yang hedonis yang melakukan pesta-pesta berlebihan. Fakta historis yang diungkapkan adalah kenangan mendalam peristiwa Pertempuran di Hutan Argonne saat PD-I, dan gagalnya pelaksanaan Prohibition terhadap banjirnya minuman alkohol. Dari semua norma tersebut ditemukan bahwa adanya representasi ketidakseimbangan antara kehidupan dunia dan akhirat.

The arising of literature in America have been influenced by few improvement and development its landscape. The alteration takes a part of American society till twentieth century. All of novels in America cannot be separated from the reality of it emerged. The condition of society is scene of the set experiences and knowledge which is filling in the prose. Otherwise, an author is a part of society whose realities out of him has an important role in that novel. One of American literature shows the correlation between social fact, history, and culture as reality phenomena and fiction or novel as imaginary world which is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott. Fitzgerald. Thereby, to express all of the realities or facts and to see what extent the fiction represents about reality or fact. From this, it needs a research. This research entitled: Repertoire in F. Scott. Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby: Analysis of Response Aesthetic Wolfgang Iser. The aim of this research is to express the form of repertoire in TGG which is background of its created. So the foreground of the author purposes can be actualized. Beside, this analysis also appears effect to build a response aesthetic with repertoire in the text and it belongs to the reader. In this research uses the entire whole repertoire in the texts which is known in the novel, TGG as an object of study and the repertoire as a perspective of Wolfgang Iser theory. Afterwards, this object will be linked with all of the nature of the work itself, include social norm or fact, history and the whole of culture that involve to the text which is emerged. After reading process, read, and to conducted analysis data. From the act of analyses, the social norm can be reveal in The Great Gatsby is a social reality of American society which is not release from the spirit of American Dream, group of society; upper class and lower class. Then, other social norms are material achievement, business and the lack of morality. The cultural fact that emerged in this novel is dance party and the roar of jazz music. The last one is the fact of history which is known in the TGG is a Post-World War One, especially about Meuse Argonne offensive, and extending of the alcohol which is caused of the Prohibition. Starting from the background and the response aesthetic, foreground that will be turn of the author is a social fact, which is revealed to protest or t critic of the concept of the American Dream. Because of this concept has become ideology of society to pursuit their happiness, dream, and to be better life. That dream is succeed to maintain of that concept. The cultural norm is fond of dance party, play of Jazz music. This culture is a critic to the hedonism of people in the 1920s. Historical fact revealed is an inner memory of Meuse Argonne war and the Prohibition constitution has fall down. From these extra textual realities founded that imbalance between secular and hereafter life.
