Catu daya utama yaitu PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) tidak selamanya kontinyu dalam penyaluranya, suatu saat pasti terjadi pemadaman yang kemungkinan dapat disebabkan oleh gangguan pada transmisi atau sistem distribusi. Untuk mengantisipasi dari pemadaman tersebut, dalam proyek akhir ini bertujuan untuk mendesain sebuah kontrol otomatis yang disebut Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Berbasis Mikrokontroler ATMega8. Automatic Transfer Switch digunakan untuk secara otomatis mengubah catu daya utama dari PLN ke cadangan (genset) ataupun sebaliknya dari cadangan (genset) ke catu daya utama yaitu PLN. Mikrokontroler digunakan mengatur seluruh kerja komponen, LCD digunakan sebagai penunjuk status alat dan buzzer sebagai alarm jika terjadi permasalahan pada saat starting genset. Alat ini juga dilengkapi timer/delay saat terjadi perubahan catu daya dari catu daya cadangan ke catu daya utama PLN. Hal ini dilakukan untuk memastikan catu daya PLN telah beroperasi dengan normal.

The main power supply from PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) is not always continuous in distribution, someday surely outages that may be caused by fault on the transmission or distribution system. In anticipation of the outage, the final project aims to design an automatic control called Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Based Microcontroller ATMega8. Automatic Transfer Switches are used to automatically turn the main power supply from PLN to a backup (generator set) or otherwise of a backup (generator set) to the main power supply is PLN. The microcontroller is used throughout the working set of components, the LCD is used as a tool status indicator and buzzer as an alarm in case of problems when starting the generator set. This tool is also equipped with a timer / delay when there is a change of power supply backup power to the main power supply PLN. This is done to ensure the power supply PLN has been operating normally.
