Karakterisasi Sifat Akustik Gitar Listrik dengan Body Gitar Berbahan Kayu Nangka, Waru, Mindi, Meranti dan Alder

Indonesia memiliki kawasan hutan yang sangat luas, sehingga ketersediaan kayu lokal sangat terjamin. Hal ini membuat pemanfaatan kayu lokal menjadi sangat besar antara lain dijadikan sebagai bahan baku alat musik. Dalam pemanfaatannya sebagai alat musik, perlu dilakukan kajian penelitian dengan tujuan melihat bagaimana potensi kayu lokal sebagai bahan baku alat musik. Penelitian ini dibuat lima buah gitar listrik dengan body gitar berbahan kayu lokal Indonesia, yaitu kayu nangka (Artocarpus Heterophyllus), waru (Hibiscus Tiliaceus), mindi (Melia Azedarach), meranti (Shorea) dan juga kayu impor jenis alder (Alnus) sebagai referensi yang banyak dimanfaatkan untuk pembuatan gitar listrik. Pengujian akustik (kuantitatif) yang diuji meliputi Modulus of Elasticity (E), Speed of Sound (c), Sound Radiation Coefficient (R), damping ratio, spectrum frequency, partial ratio dan pengujian kadar air. Tes subyektif (kualitatif) juga dilakukan dengan metode listening test meliputi parameter brightness, sustain dan kualitas bunyi yang akan dicari hubungan antara hasil pengujian kuantitatif dengan hasil pengujian kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kayu waru, mindi dan meranti mempunyai nilai parameter E, c, R dan damping ratio yang tidak terlalu jauh berbeda dengan kayu alder sebagai referensi kayu impor. Kayu nangka memiliki nilai E, c, R yang relatif lebih kecil, hal ini terkait dimensi dan frekuensi alami pada kayu. Hasil penelitian karakteristik bunyi gitar listrik didapatkan bahwa kayu nangka mempunyai ciri khas yang berbeda dengan kayu lainnya karena memiliki pola spectrum frequency dan nilai partial ratio yang beragam. Pengujian ini semakin diperkuat dengan hasil tes subyektif dengan metode listening test, dimana disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memilih gitar listrik berbahan baku kayu nangka sebagai gitar yang memiliki bunyi brightness dan kualitas bunyi yang lebih baik, sedangkan kayu meranti dinilai memiliki sustain lebih baik.

Indonesia has huge forestlands, so the availability of local wood is guaranteed. This can make the utilization of local wood is very useful, such as for music instruments. In its use for music instruments, there needs to be a study of the research to know how local wood can be potentially used in the production of a musical instruments. This research shows there are five electric guitars with four bodies made from local Indonesian wood and one body made from import wood. Jackfruit wood (Artocarpus Heterophyllus), hibiscus wood (Hibiscus Tiliaceus), mindi wood (Melia Azedarach), and meranti wood (Shorea) are local wood Indonesia and alder wood (Alnus) as a reference import wood is widely used for the manufacturing of electric guitars. Investigations of acoustic guitars (quantitative) that were tested are modulus of elasticity (E), speed of sound (c), sound radiation coefficient (R), damping ratio, spectrum frequency, partial ratio and moisture content. Subjective tests (qualitative) were also carried out with the listening test method which covers parameters such as brightness, sustain and the sound quality of wood. These tests reveal the relationship between the results of quantitative and qualitative. The results showed that hibiscus wood, mindi wood and meranti wood have a value of the parameters E, c, R, and damping ratio that is not too different between alder wood as a reference of import wood. Jackfruit wood has a value of the parameters E, c, R, that are relatively small, that is related to dimension and natural frequency of the wood. The characteristic sound results of the electric guitar found that jackfruit wood have characteristics that differ from other wood because it has a pattern of spectrum frequency and variation of partial ratio. This investigation strengthened was by the results of subjective tests with listening test method, which concluded that the majority of respondents chose an electric guitar made from jackfruit wood as a guitar that has brightness and better sound quality, and meranti wood judged to have better sustain.
