Setelah dilakukan overlay terhadap ke tiga hasil analisis tersebut maka diperoleh tiga sektor ekonomi yang potensial/unggul di Kota Banjarbaru yaitu sektor listrik dan air bersih; perdagangan, hotel dan restoran; dan sektor jasa. Hasil analisis Tipologi Klassen diketahui bahwa Kota Banjarbaru digolongkan sebagai Kota maju tetapi tertekan, di mana laju pertumbuhan ekonomi Kota Banjarbaru ( 1, 16%) lebih kecil dibanding laju pertumbuhan ekonomi Propinsi Kalimantan Selatan (3,3%) dan PDRB per kapita Kota Banjarbaru (Rp1.919.461,50) lebih besar dari PDRB Propinsi Kalimantan Selatan (Rp1.806.289,83). The data is obtained from the BPS of South Kalimantan, BPS cf Regenw Banjar, and from Baopeda of municipality Banjarbaru. The analysis methods applied in this research are Location Quotient, Classical Shift-Share, and Estaban-Marquillas modified Shift-Share, and Klassen Typology Analysis. The finding of this research indicate that from the LQ analysis there were four potential economic sector of Municipility Banjarbaru : electrictty and water supply sector; construction sector; tradeing, hotel and restaurant sector; and service sector. whith classical Shift Share method there were economic sekor with its competitive advantage: manufacturing industries sector; electricity and water supply sector; construction sector; tradeing, hotel and restaurant sector; finance, dwelling and business service sector; and service sector. From the Estaban Marquillas modified Shift Share, indicated that the sector which have specialization and competitive advantage were electricity and water supply sector; tradeing, hotel and restaurant sector; and service sector. After overlay than three analysis concluding three potential economic sector/ competitive in the Municipality of Banjarbaru: electricity and water supply; trading, hotel and restorance sector; and services sector.
