PENGARUH CUACA PADA C-BAND TERHADAP TRANSMISI VSAT IP

Dewasa ini VSAT (Very Small Aparture Terminal) mulai banyak dipakai. Seperti halnya komunikasi satelit pada umumnya, unjuk kerja teknologi itu terpengaruh oleh hujan. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengkaji pengaruh hujan terhadap unjuk kerja VSAT IP pada frekuensi pita-C. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara mengamati nilai Es/No (Energy per Symbol to Noise Power Density), BER (Bit Error Rate), delay, dan throughput dari ujung ke ujung (end-to-end) atau jaringan outbound VSAT pada berbagai coding rate saat cerah, gerimis, dan kondisi hujan lebat. Hasil kesimpulan dari sinyal yang diterima menunjukan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang kuat dengan pengaruh cuaca. Sebagai contoh dari angka hasil pengamatan sebagai berikut. Nilai Es/No dan throughput dengan coding rate 3/4 pada kondisi cerah, coding rate 2/3 pada kondisi gerimis, dan coding rate 3/5 pada kondisi hujan deras adalah 10.25 dB, 7.15 dB, dan 6.23 dB, dan kemudian nilai throughput adalah 512 kbps, 121 kbps, dan 67.89 kbps.

Recently, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) is often being used more. Like any other general satellite comunication, the performance of it is affected heavy by rain. This research intends to study the impact of rain against the performance of VSAT IP in C-Band frequency. The research is done by observed Es/No (Energy per Symbol to Noise Power Density), BER (Bit Error Rate), delay, and throughput of the end-to-end or VSAT outbound network at various coding rate in clear weather, drizzle, and heavy rain condition. The result shows that the received signal has strong correlation to the weather. Some numerical examples are provided as follows. The Es/No and throughput values for coding rate 3/4 on clear weather, coding rate 2/3 on drizzle, and coding rate 3/5 in heavy rain are 10.25 dB, 7.15 dB, and 6.23 dB, and the throughput values are 512 kbps, 121 kbps, and 67.89 kbps, respectively.
