Penelitian ini membahas unsur-unsur instrinsik cerpen Abdullah.. wa Fatimah dalam antologi cerpen Ulbatun min as-Safih karya Ihsan Abd al-Quddus. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah teori struktural Robert Stanton. Unsur-unsur intrinsik yang dibahas mencakup fakta cerita yang terdiri atas karakter, alur, dan latar, kemudian tema, serta sarana cerita yang terdiri atas judul, sudut pandang, dan simbolisme. Penelitian ini juga membahas keterkaitan antarunsur tersebut. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tema cerpen ini adalah pengidap penyakit schizophrenia dapat melakukan tindak kejahatan tanpa memiliki rasa bersalah sama sekali. Tokoh utama yang menderita penyakit tersebut adalah Abdullah Muhammad Ali Jabir, seorang laki-laki yang melakukan pembunuhan. Cerpen ini memiliki alur flash-back, dan latar tempat berupa ruang pengadilan, rumah Abdullah, dan rumah Ibrahim. Latar waktunya adalah antara pagi hingga sore hari, adapun latar sosialnya tidak disebutkan. Cerpen ini diceritakan dengan sudut pandang orang pertama-utama. Simbolisme yang terdapat pada cerita ini adalah delusi-delusi Abdullah yang mengindikasikan penyakit schizophrenia. Masing-masing unsur intrinsik cerpen ini memiliki keterkaitan satu sama lain sehingga membentuk makna yang utuh.

This study discusses the intrinsic elements of the short story Abdullah.. wa Fatimah in the anthology Ulbatun min as-Safih written by Ihsan Abd al-Quddus. The theory used in this study is structural theory of Robert Stanton. The intrinsic elements that are discussed consist of facts of the story; characters and characterizations, plot, and setting, the theme, and the literary devices which consists of title, point of view and symbolism. This study also analyzes the relations among those elements. This study concludes that the theme of this short story is the sufferer of schizophrenia disorder can commit crime without feeling guilty at all. The main character who suffers that disorder is Abdullah Muhammad Ali Jabir, a man that commited murder. The plot in this story is flash-back plot. The place setting consists of court hall, Abdullah's house, and Ibrahim's house. The time setting is between morning and afternoon, while the social setting is not mentioned. The point of view in this short story is the first person type. The symbolism contained in this short story is Abdullah's delusions that indicated the schizophrenia disorder. Every intrinsic elements in this short story has relations with each other thus together they form a whole meaning.
