Pada lima tahun pertama era Reformasi jumlah perusahaan penerbitan pers sangat pesat. Pada tahun 1998-2003 tumbuh 600 perusahaan pers dengan gaya pemberitaan dan cara-cara memperoleh informasi yang lebih bebas dan beragam. Namun pada kenyataannya, kebebasan pers pada isi media terbelenggu. Seiring dengan perjalanan politik di Indonesia dan pemanfaatan media online oleh partai politik yang disebabkan oleh semakin banyaknya swing voters, membuat banyak partai politik menggunakan media massa dalam mengiring opini publik sebagai promosi dari caleg mereka. Pemberitaan caleg partai yang ditampilkan oleh vivanews adalah konstruksi atas peristiwa yang terjadi dalam masyarakat berdasarkan fakta atau data peristiwa. Penulisan dan penayangan beri ta media online vivanews hampir sama dengan penulisan dalam media cetak, khususnya surat kabar. Dalam peran media, kepentingan politik selalu menjadi fokus utama pemberitaan sehingga media adalah subjek yang aktif serta tidak menjadi alat yang mudah dikendalikan oleh pihak luar pengelolah media. Kaum konstruksionis memiliki empat asumsi dasar, yakni, pertama dunia ini tidaklah tampak nyata secara objektif pada pengamat, tetapi diketahui melalui pengalaman yang pada umumnya dipengaruhi oleh bahasa. Kedua, ka tegori linguistik digunakan untuk memahami realitas bersifat situasional karena kategori itu muncul dari intraksi sosial dalam kelompok orang pada waktu dan tempat tertentu. Ketiga, bagaimana realitas tertentu dipahami pada waktu tertentu dan ditentukan da ri konvensi yang berlaku pada waktu itu, dan keempat, pehaman realitas yang terbentuk secara sosial membentuk banyak aspek kehiidupan lain yang penting

In the first five years of Reformation era, the number of publishing company is increasing rapidly. In 1998 to 2003, 600 press publishing companies are established with various style of news reporting and different ways of obtaining the information. In facts, in term of the news content, many mass media are entangled. Along with the development of politics in Indonesia , the use of online media by certain political parties due to the great number of swing voters increases as well. They compete to gain this kind of mass and lead the public opinion to select the candidates of parliament members from their political parties. This online media is also used for promotion and campaign by featuring the positives sides of their candidates. The news reporting exposed at vivinews.com is the construction of an event occurs among the society that relying on the facts and data. The news writing and news feature at vivanews.com are similar to the printed media, particularly in newspaper writing. In the context of media’s role, the politics interest is always the concern of the news coverage so that media plays active role and resistant to the abuse of the certain groups. In term of this matter, constructionists address four fundamental assumptions. First, this world is not clearly objective and it is figured out by experiencing it Furthermore, it is commonly influenced by the language. Second, linguistics category is used to understand the reality which is situational because the category arises from the social interaction in groups of people in certain time. Third, how the reality is understood at the certain time and it is considered by the convention that is effective in that time. Fourth, the understanding of the reality that forms socially can create many important aspects of life.
