Prarancangan Pabrik Dimethyl Terephthalate dari Asam Terephthalate dan Metanol dengan Kapasitas 50.000 Ton/Tahun

Dimethyl Terephthalate adalah senyawa polimer yang dapat dibentuk berbagai macam produk seperti textile dan fiber. Peluang berkembangnya industri Dimethyl Terephthalate di Indonesia cukup besar, mengingat pada tahun 2012 nilai impor Indonesia terhadap produk Dimethyl Terephthalate sendiri mencapai 790,4 ton/tahun. Pabrik ini direncanakan beroperasi selama 330 hari/tahun dengan kapasitas produksi Dimethyl Terephthalate 50000 ton/tahun. Bahan baku utama yang dibutuhkan adalah Asam Terephthalate 98,5% sebanyak 42811,109 ton/tahun dan Metanol 99,4% sebanyak 19360,282 ton/tahun. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan cara mereaksikan Asam Terephthalate dan Metanol fase gas pada suhu 324-330oC dan tekanan 1,2-1,5 atm di dalam Fixed Bed Reactor. Reaksi yang terjadi bersifat adiabatis. Katalisator yang digunakan adalah Alumina A + 1% KOH. Dimethyl Terephthalate kemudian dipisahkan dari sisa-sisa bahan baku dan katalis. Dimethyl Terephthalate dikristalkan dengan kristaliser kemudian diproses di rotary dryer agar produk dapat berbentuk padatan. Sebagai penunjang, unit utilitas menyuplai kebutuhan air pendingin sebanyak 140,254 m3/jam, listrik sebanyak 2,6 MW, bahan bakar fuel oil sebanyak 4403,66 kg/jam, udara tekan sebanyak 201,6 m3/jam, dan steam sebanyak 37671,36 kg/jam. Pabrik ini akan didirikan di kota Cilegon, provinsi Banten, dengan pertimbangan raw material oriented. Pabrik ini memiliki luas area 7 ha dan membutuhkan 175 tenaga kerja. Kawasan Cilegon dekat dengan pelabuhan sehingga mempermudah pemasaran produk Dimethyl Terephthalate. Perhitungan evaluasi ekonomi memberikan hasil modal tetap yang dibutuhkan adalah sebesar $19,167,610.91 + Rp 112.233.830.493,65 dan modal kerja sebesar Rp 224.549.459.924,79. Pada kapasitas 100% produksi, diperoleh ROI before tax sebesar 24,68%, ROI after tax sebesar 12,34%. POT before tax sebesar 2,88 tahun, POT after tax sebesar 4,48 tahun dengan BEP sebesar 52,43%, SDP sebesar 27,61%, dan DCFRR sebesar 16,42%. Berdasarkan pertimbangan hasil evaluasi tersebut, maka pabrik Dimethyl Terephthalate dengan kapasitas 50000 ton/tahun ini layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.

Dimethyl Terephthalate is a polymer substance which leads to production of textile and fiber. The opportunity of Dimethyl Terephthalate industry to develop in Indonesia is quite big, by considering the fact that in 2012, the value of Indonesian product resulted from import activity has reached 790,4 ton/tahun. The plant is planned to operate for 330 days/year with a Dimethyl Terephthalate production capacity of 50000 tons/year. The main raw material required is as much as 42811,109 tons/year of 98,5% Terepththalic Acid and 19360,282 tons/year of 99,4% Methanol. The method used is the reaction Terephthalic Acid and Methanol gas phase in the Fixed Bed Reactor at the temperature 324-330oC and the pressure 1,2-1,5 atm. The reaction is adiabatic reaction. The catalyst used is Alumina A + 1% KOH. Then Dimethyl Terephthalate separated from residu and the catalyst. Dimethyl Terephthalate cryztalized with cryztallizer unit and then proccessed in the rotary dryer unit so that the product will be solid. As a support, utility plant unit supplies the cooling water as much as 140,254 m3/hour, 2,6 MW electricity, fuel oil as much as 4403.66 kg/hour, compressed air up to 201,6 m3/hour, and steam as much as 37671,36 kg/hour. The factory will be built in Cilegon which is located in Banten province. This decision made by considering the raw material oriented. The factory has an area of 7 ha and requires 175 labor. Cilegon area is located close to harbor which will help the distribution of Dimethyl Terephthalate production way much easier. Calculation of economic evaluation results is fixed capital required equal to $19,167,610.91 + Rp 112.233.830.493,65 and working capital equal to Rp 224.549.459.924,79. At 100% production rate, obtained ROI before tax of 24,68%, ROI after tax of 12,34%, POT before tax of 2,88 years, POT after tax of 4,48 years, with BEP at 52,43%, SDP at 27,61%, and 16,42% for DCFRR. Based on consideration of the economic evaluation results, this Dimethyl Terephthalate plant with capacity 50000 tons/year worth to be studied further.
