INTISARI Penelitian berjudul �¢ï¿½ï¿½Novel Gerhana Kembar Karya Clara Ng: Analisis Latar Menurut Teori Robert Stanton�¢ï¿½ï¿½ ini meneliti latar dan fungsi latar yang terdapat dalam novel Gerhana Kembar. Latar menurut Robert Stanton yaitu lingkungan peristiwa, latar belakang yang terlihat, waktu dalam sehari atau setahun, iklim atau cuaca, periode sejarah dan orang-orang yang melatarbelakangi. Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan: tujuan teoretis dan tujuan praktis. Tujuan teoretis dari penelitian ini adalah menerapkan teori Robert Stanton dalam mendiskripsikan latar dalam novel Gerhana Kembar. Pembahasan penelitian ini fokus terhadap unsur latar. Tujuan praktis dari penelitian ini adalah membantu pembaca dalam memahami karya sastra sebagai perwujudan dan penjelmaan ketegangan seluruh konvensi yang secara bersama-sama memiliki fungsi dalam mencari sistem pada sebuah karya sastra. Penelitian ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan apresiasi masyarakat dalam memahami karya sastra, khususnya novel. Dari penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat lima unsure latar dari enam unsur latar yang telah dikelompokkan oleh Robert Stanton. Lima latar tersebut, lingkungan peristiwa, latar belakang yang terlihat, waktu dalam sehari atau setahun, iklim atau cuaca, orang yang melatarbelakangi jalan cerita. Dari kelima unsur latar tersebut yang paling dominan adalah lingkungan peristiwa. Kata kunci: novel, Gerhana Kembar, Robert Stanton, unsur latar, fungsi latar

ABSTRACT The ESSENCE of Research entitled "Novel GerhanaKembar Clara Ng: Background Analysis according to the theory of Robert Stanton" it examines the background and background functions that are embedded in the novel Eclipse of the twins. Background according to the Robert Stanton i.e. environmental events which are visible, the background, time of day or year, climate or weather, historical periods and people which aspects influenced. The study has two objectives: the purpose of theoretical and practical purposes. The theoretical goal of this research is to apply the theory of Robert Stanton in the mendiskripsikan setting in the novel Eclipse of the twins. Discussion this study focus on the background element. The practical aim of this research is to assist the reader in understanding the literary works as the embodiment and manifestation of tension throughout the Convention, which together have a function in finding the system in a literary work of this research are expected to enhance the appreciation of the community in understanding the works of literature, particularly the novels. From the study it can be concluded that there are five elements in the background of the six elements of the background that have been grouped by Robert Stanton. Five of these background, neighborhood events, the background is shown, the time in a day or a year, climate or weather, people aspects influenced the story. The fifth element of the background is the most dominant environmental events. The background has a function can describe characters and moods of people. Although there are no functions that describe the background theme, with the definition of the elements of the background it can be concluded that this is the novel's theme of lesbianism.
