PENGARUH JENIS FIBER SEBAGAI PENGUAT RESTORASI RESIN KOMPOSIT BULK FILL TERHADAP RESISTENSI FRAKTUR GIGI PREMOLAR PASCA PERAWATAN SALURAN AKAR

Sistem penguatan fiber merupakan teknik yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan daya tahan dan toleransi terhadap kerusakan pada suatu restorasi berbahan resin komposit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis fiber (glass fiber dan polyethylene fiber) sebagai penguat restorasi resin komposit bulk fill kavitas mesio okluso distal (MOD) terhadap resistensi fraktur gigi premolar pasca perawatan saluran akar Duapuluh tujuh gigi premolar mandibula yang telah dilakukan perawatan saluran akar dipreparasi kavitas MOD, panjang dan lebar kavitas 4 mm, serta kedalaman kavitasnya 4 mm. Spesimen penelitian dibagi dalam 3 kelompok, yaitu kelompok I kavitas direstorasi menggunakan resin komposit bulk fill tanpa penambahan penguat fiber, kelompok II kavitas direstorasi menggunakan resin komposit bulk fill dengan penambahan penguat glass fiber dan kelompok III kavitas direstorasi menggunakan resin komposit bulk fill dengan penambahan penguat polyethylene fiber. Setelah dilakukan thermocycling dan penyimpanan dalam inkubator pada suhu 37 % selama 24 jam, dilakukan pembebanan dengan universal testing machine (UTM) kecepatan 0,5 mm/menit. Nilai resistensi fraktur dalam satuan Newton (N). Analisis data menggunakan uji anava satu jalur (α=0,05) dan uji LSD (α=0,05). Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan nilai rerata resistensi fraktur ketiga kelompok (p<0,05) serta perbedaan yang bermakna antar kelompok perlakuan (I < II < III). Pada penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa polyethylene fiber dan glass fiber secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan resistensi fraktur restorasi resin komposit bulk fill pada gigi premolar pasca perawatan saluran akar. Penggunaan polyethylene fiber sebagai penguat restorasi resin komposit bulk fill secara signifikan lebih baik dibanding glass fiber. Fiber reinforcement system is a technique used to improve resistance and tolerance to damage of composite resin restoration material. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of the use two different types of fibers (glass fiber and polyethylene fiber) of the mesio occluso distal (MOD) cavities restored with bulk fill composite resin on the fracture resistance of endodontically treated premolars. A total of 27 extracted mandibular premolars underwent endodontic treatment were prepared as MOD cavities, 4 mm length and width and 4 mm depth of cavities. Then the specimens were randomly divided into three groups of 9, in group I, the cavities were restored with bulk fill composite resin without the use of any fibers, in group II the cavities were restored with bulk fill composite resin with the use of glass fibers and in group III, the cavities were restored with bulk fill composite resin with the use of polyethylene fiber. Subsequent to thermocycling, the specimens were incubated at 37°C for 24 hours. Compressive loading of the teeth was performed using universal testing machine at 0,5 mm/min crosshead speed. Fracture resistance of the specimens were measured in Newton (N). Data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA (α=0,05) and LSD test (α=0,05). The results shows that there were significant differences in the means of fracture resistance values between the three groups (p<0,05). Statistically significant differences were observed in the fracture resistance among the group (I< II< III). In this study, it was concluded that the type of fiber influenced the fracture resistance of endodontically treated mandibular premolars restored with bulk fill composite resin. The use of polyethylene fiber as reinforced bulk fill composite resin restorations were significantly better than glass fiber.
