Teknologi Java berkembang pesat dalam bidang teknologi informasi. Salah satu teknologi Java yang menarik untuk dipelajari adalah framework ORM (Object/Relational Mapping) Hibernate yang mendukung design pattern MVC (Model-View-Controller) serta mendukung pemetaan basis data MySQL. JSF Swing dapat diimplementasikan bersama dengan Hibernate melakukan fungsi utama sebuah sistem seperti proses menciptakan (create), membaca (read), memperbarui(update), menghapus (delete) data,serta mencari (search) data . Sistem informasi proyek akhir sebagai studi kasus permasalahan ini dibangun berdasarkan survei pada Program Diploma Teknik Elektro, Sekolah Vokasi UGM yang belum memiliki sistem pendataan kerja praktek, magang dan tugas akhir. Implementasi JSF Swing dan ORM Hibernate pada sistem ini dirasa tepat sebagai bentuk pembelajaran dan alternatif teknologi yang digunakan selain penggunaan PHP atau Java lainnya.

Java technology is developing rapidly in the field of information technology. One of the interesting Java technology to learn is ORM Hibernate framework that supports MVC (Model-View-Controller) design pattern and support the MySQL database mapping. JSF Swing can be implemented along with Hibernate to perform the major functions of system such as the proccess of creating, reading, updating, deleting the data and search the data. The final project information system as a case study of this problem is built based on survey on the Program Diploma Teknik Elektro, Sekolah Vokasi UGM that do not have the web-based information system to collect the data of practical works and final projects. Implementation of JSF Swing and ORM Hibernate framework in this system is appropriate as an alternative way of learning and the use of technology in addition to the use of PHP or other Java web framework.
