Kematian Herpetofauna di Berbagai Karakter Jalan dan Lalulintas di Hutan Pendidikan Wanagama I, Kabupaten Gunung Kidul Yogyakarta

Karakteristik jalan dan lalulintas akan mempengaruhi kematian satwa termasuk herpetofauna. Jalan di Hutan Pendidikan Wanagama I berpotensi menyebabkan kematian bagi herpetofauna. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran berbagai karakteristik jalan dan lalu lintas terhadap kematian herpetofauna di Hutan Wanagama I. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada Oktober-Desember 2014 dengan melakukan estimasi populasi dan keanekaragaman jenis herpetofauna di tepi jalan (kanan dan kiri jalan) dari tiga tipe jalan yang berbeda (jalan provinsi, jalan desa dan jalan paving) dengan kuadrat sampling. Di masing-masing tipe jalan, karakteristik lalulintas dilakukan dengan menghitung jumlah kendaraan setiap 10 menit dengan waktu potensi kematian tertinggi (19.00-22.00 WIB). Pengambilan data kematian herpetofauna dilakukan dengan metode road cruising. Perbandingan statistik dilakukan untuk mengetahui peran karakteristik jalan dan lalulintas terhadap populasi, jumlah jenis dan kematian herpetofauna. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa jalan provinsi memiliki lalulintas tertinggi dengan 2365 kendaraan/malam, jalan desa dengan 12 kendaraan/malam dan jalan paving 4 kendaraan/malam. Sedangkan tepi jalan provinsi menjadi habitat bagi 4 spesies, 9 spesies di tepi jalan desa dan 4 spesies herpetofauna di tepi jalan paving. Laju kematian herpetofauna 105 individu/tahun di jalan provinsi, 444 individu/tahun di jalan desa dan tidak ada kematian di jalan paving. Kondisi habitat di masingmasing tipe jalan berkontribusi terhadap kehadiran dan peran kematian herpetofauna di Hutan Pendidikan Wanagama I.

Road and traffic characteristics have been known to affect wildlife mortality including herpetofauna. Roads were established in Wanagama I Forest where potential mortality of herpetofauna are exist. This research aims to determine the role of the various characteristics of road and traffic to mortality of herpetofauna in Wanagama I Forest. Data were collected during October-December 2014 by estimating population and species diversity of herpetofauna on the road sides (right and left side) from the three different road types (provincial road, village road and paving road) using square sampling. In each road types, traffic characteristics were measured by counting number of different vehicles in every 10 minutes during potential peak time to cause mortality (7.00 -10 pm). Mortality of herpetofauna was collected by road cruising methods. Statistical comparison were carried out between road and traffic characteristics on the number of species and population of herpetofauna near road and mortality. Results shows that provincial road has the highest traffic with 2365 vehicles/night,followed by village road with 12 vehicles/night and paving road with only 4 vehicles/night. While provincial roadside provide habitat for 4 species, village road 9 species and paving road 4 species of herpetofauna. Mortality rates of herpetofauna were 105 individuals/year on provincial roads, 444 individuals/year on village roads and no mortality onpaving road. Local habitat condition in each road types seems to contribute the presence and mortality of herpetofauna in Wanagama I Forest.
