Boom cylinder merupakan salah satu komponen dari front attachment excavator. Komponen ini berfungsi meggerakkan bucket dalam posisi maksimal dengan memanfaatkan aliran oli hidrolik. Boom cylinder akan mengalami penurunan performa kerja jika terdapat masalah dan kerusakan pada inner-parts nya. Metode analisa yang digunakan dalam laporan tugas akhir ini adalah pengumpulan data dari berbagai literatur, pengamatan secara langsung mengenai kerusakan boom cylinder dan pemahaman informasi dari mandor dan mekanik berpengalaman. Hal ini dapat menjadi dasar analisa permasalahan. Gangguan kinerja pada komponen boom cylinder dapat disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, diantaranya yaitu kontaminasi yang terjadi pada komponen boom cylinder, terjadinya kebocoran internal ataupun eksternal, serta terjadinya overheat pada bagian komponen dari boom cylinder. Faktor-faktor tersebut dapat menurunkan daya kerja pada komponen boom cylinder. Sedangkan penyebab kerusakan pada boom cylinder sangat beraneka ragam, hal ini dapat terjadi karena faktor-faktor tertentu, diantaranya pada pemakaian unit oleh operator, medan kerja yang curam dan banyak faktor penentu lainnya yang mendasari kerusakan pada komponen boom cylinder ini. Masalah kerusakan pada boom cylinder tersebut dapat dikurangi dengan penanganan yang benar, yaitu dengan perawatan yang tepat pada setiap komponen, penyesuaian kapasitas kerja dan menjaga kebersihan oli hidrolik pada sistem.

Boom cylinder is a component of the front attachment excavator. This component serves to move the bucket in maximally position by utilizing the flow of hydraulic oil. Boom cylinder will experience the decrease in work performance if there is a problems and damage to its inner-parts. Analysis methods of this final report are collecting data from a variety of literature, direct observation of the damage the boom cylinder and understanding information from an experienced foreman and mechanic. This can be the basis of problem analysis. Impaired performance on the boom cylinder components can be caused by several factors, among which are the contamination occurred on the boom cylinder components, internal or external leakage, and the occurrence of overheating in the component parts of the boom cylinder. These factors can reduce the power of labor in the boom cylinder components. While the cause of damage to the boom cylinder is very diverse, this can happen due to certain factors, including the use of the unit by the operator, terrain work steep and many other determinants that underlie damage to the boom cylinder component of this. The problem of damage the boom cylinder can be reduced by proper treatment, with proper maintenance on each component, adjusting and maintaining cleanliness of work capacity hydraulic oil in the system.
