KARAKTERISTIK PERAIRAN SUNGAI BEDOG DI DESA WIJIREJO, PANDAK, BANTUL, DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA (Studi Kasus Dampak Pembuangan Limbah Cair Industri Batik)

Terdapat beragam jenis penggunaan lahan di sepanjang sempadan Sungai Bedog yang berpotensi menurunkan kualitas airnya. Salah satunya adalah sentra industri batik di Desa Wijirejo, Pandak, Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta yang membuang limbah cair sisa produksi langsung ke badan Sungai Bedog. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak masukan limbah cair batik terhadap karakteristik air, hubungan antara konsentrasi Cr+6 dengan nilai COD, dan indeks pencemaran air Sungai Bedog di lokasi sebelum, pada (outlet) dan setelah dilalui saluran limbah cair industri batik di Desa Wijirejo. Pengambilan data karakteristik fisik, kima dan biologi air Sungai Bedog dilakukan pada tiga lokasi pengamatan. Terdapat tiga titik pengambilan data dalam satu lokasi pengamatan dengan jarak antar titik sejauh 100 meter. Pengambilan data dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masukan limbah cair batik di Desa Wijirejo berdampak terhadap karakteristik air Sungai Bedog terutama pada variabel Kejernihan, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), dan konsentrasi Cr+6. Kondisi tersebut diperparah oleh rendahnya kecepatan arus pada lokasi outlet limbah cair batik. Konsentrasi Cr+6 dan nilai COD air Sungai Bedog di lokasi outlet limbah cair batik memiliki hubungan yang paling kuat dibandingkan lokasi pengamatan lainnya. Hasil tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa Cr+6 yang terkandung dalam limbah cair batik berpengaruh besar terhadap nilai COD dalam air Sungai Bedog. Hasil dari perhitungan indeks pencemaran (PIj) menunjukkan semua lokasi pengamatan masuk ke dalam kategori tercemar ringan.
Bedog River begins in Merapi Mountain National Park and end in Progo River. There are various types of use of the land along the Bedog River buffer which potentially degrade the water quality. Among other such activities include the batik industry center dumps its liquid waste directly into Bedog River. This research aimed at determining the impact of dumping batik industry liquid waste on water characteristics, the correlations between Cr+6 concentration with the value of COD, and the pollution index of Bedog River on locations before, on (outlet) and after the point of discharge of the liquid waste of the batik industry in Wijirejo Village. Data collection in the form of physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of Bedog River water was permormed on three research locations with 100 meter intervals. The data collection was carried out three times. The research results show that the intake of batik industry liquid waste in Wijirejo Village affected water characteristics of Bedog River, especially for on the level of water clarity, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), and Cr+6 contretration. This was worsened by the low speed of the stream at the point where the outlet of batik liquid waste was located. The concentration of Cr+6 and COD value of Bedog River water at the location of liquid waste outlet has the highest correlation compared with other observation points. These results indicate that Cr+6 which is contained in the liquid waste strongly affect the COD value in Bedog River water. The calculations result of pollution index (PIj) indicated that all research locations suffer from mild pollution
