INTISARI Tujuan skripsi ini adalah menganalisis dan membandingkan karakterisasi Darcy dalam dua adaptasi film dari novel Pride and Prejudice karya Jane Austen yang berjudul Pride and Prejudice (2005) karya Joe Wright dan Bride and Prejudice (2004) karya Gurinder Chadaha untuk menemukan persamaan dan perbedaan pada karakterisasi Darcy. Pembahasan akan di fokuskan pada aksi dan deskripsi Darcy sebagai karakter utama pria yang memainkan peran penting dalam cerita. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa kedua film adaptasi mempunyai latar belakang yang berbeda. Pride and Prejudice (2005) karya Joe Wright mengadaptasi seluruh cerita Pride and Prejudice karya Jane Austen seperti alur cerita, tema, karakter, dan tempat meskipun ada beberapa pengurangan pada cerita yang dikarenakan oleh durasi film. Disisi lain, Bride and Prejudice (2004) karya Gurinder Chadha memiliki beberapa perubahan pada alur cerita, tempat, dan karakter. Kedua film adaptasi memiliki versi masing-masing, Pride and Prejudice (2005) dengan versi Hollywood dan Bride and Prejudice (2004) dengan versi Bollywood. ABSTRACT The objective of this paper is to analyze and compare the characterization of Darcy in two film adaptations of Jane Austen�s Pride and Prejudice entitled Pride and Prejudice (2005) by Joe Wright and Bride and Prejudice (2004) by Gurinder Chadha in order to find the similarities and differences of the characterization of Darcy. The discussion will only be limited to the actions and descriptions of Darcy as the lead male character who plays an important role in the story. The conclusion of the research indicates that the two film adaptations have different background. Pride and prejudice (2005) by Joe Wright adapt the whole story of Jane Austen�s Pride and Prejudice such as the plot, theme, character, and setting. On the other hand, Bride and Prejudice (2004) by Gurinder Chadha has some changes on the plot, setting, and character. Both of the film adaptations have their own version, Pride and Prejudice (2005) with a Hollywood version and Bride and Prejudice (2004) with a Bollywood version.
