PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN SILANE DAN IMPREGNASI FIBER TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK FIBER REINFORCED COMPOSITE E-GLASS SEBAGAI RETAINER ORTODONSI

2015 | Tesis | S2 Ilmu Kedokteran GigiFiber reinforced composite (FRC) digunakan di bidang kedokteran gigi diantaranya sebagai retainer ortodonsi. Retainer ortodonsi FRC masih mempunyai kekurangan yaitu fraktur akibat lemahnya ikatan antara fiber dan matriks FRC. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh silane sebagai coupling agent dan impregnasi fiber terhadap kekuatan tarik FRC E-glass sebagai retainer ortodonsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan bahan fiber E-glass impregnasi (everStick®ORTHO, Stick Tech Ltd), fiber E-glass tanpa impregnasi (Ahlstrom Fiberglass R338-2400/V/P®), matriks komposit flowable (Tetric Flow Chroma, Ivoclar Vivadent) dan silane MPS (Monobond–S, Ivoclar Vivadent). Pembagian kelompok penelitian berdasarkan impregnasi fiber yaitu kelompok FRC impregnasi (original, silane 1x, silane 2x) dan kelompok FRC tanpa impregnasi (original, silane 1x, silane 2x). Masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 4 sampel. Kekuatan tarik diukur menggunakan universal testing machine. Analisis data menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis dilanjutkan uji post hoc Mann Whitney. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata kekuatan tarik (MPa) fiber impregnasi original (26,60±0,51), silane 1x (43,38±4,42), silane 2x (36,22±7,23); fiber tanpa impregnasi original (29,38±1,08), silane 1x (29,38±1,08), silane 2x (12,48±2,37). Uji Kruskal Wallis menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara fiber impregnasi dan tanpa impregnasi (p<0,05). Uji post hoc menunjukkan penambahan silane 1x pada fiber impregnasi berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kekuatan tarik FRC E-glass (p<0,05), sedangkan penambahan silane pada fiber tanpa impregnasi berpengaruh terhadap penurunan kekuatan tarik FRC E-glass (p<0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penambahan silane pada fiber yang belum disilane meningkatkan kekuatan tarik sedangkan penambahan silane pada fiber yang belum disilan menurunkan kekuatan tarik. Impregnasi fiber meningkatkan kekuatan tarik FRC E-glass. Kata kunci: silane, impregnasi, kekuatan tarik, fiber reinforced composite
Fiber reinforced composite (FRC) in dentistry is as an orthodontic retainer. However, there is a limitation of FRC for this application that is a fracture due to a weak bonding between fibers and matrixs. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of silane and impregnation of fibers on the tensile strength of E-glass FRC. This study used an impregnated E-glass fiber (everStick®ORTHO, Stick Tech Ltd), a non-impregnated E-glass fiber (Ahlstrom Fiberglass R338-2400/V/P®), a composite flowable matrixs (Tetric Flow Chroma, Ivoclar Vivadent) and a MPS silane (Monobond–S, Ivoclar Vivadent). This study consisted of two group: an impregnated fiber (original, 1x addition of silane, 2x addition of silane) and a non-impregnated fiber (original, 1x addition of silane, 2x addition of silane). Each group consisted of 4 sample series. The tensile strength was measured by a universal testing machine. The mean of the tensile strength was compared by Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney post hoc test. The result showed that the mean of tensile strength (MPa) of an original impregnated fiber (26.60±0.51), 1x addition of silane (43.38±4.42), 2x addition of silane (36.22±7.23); while the tensile strength of an original non impregnated fiber (29.38±1.08), 1x addition of silane (29.38±1.08), 2x addition of silane (12.48±2.37). The Kruskal Wallis test showed there was significant differences between an impregnated and a nonimpregnated fibers (p<0.05). The post hoc test showed that the 1x addition of silane on the impregnated fiber had a significant effect on the increase of the tensile strength of E-glass FRC (p<0.05), while the addition of silane on a non.impregnated fiber had a significant effect on the decrease of the tensile strength of E-glass FRC. The conclusion of this study was the addition of silane on non silanated fiber increase the tensile strength of E-glass FRC but the addition of silane on silanated fiber decrease the tensile strength of E-glass FRC. The impregnation of fiber can increase the tensile strength of E-glass FRC. Keywords: silane, impregnation, tensile strength, fiber reinforced composite
